I do not have a job and/or no full time education.

I sit at home and play daoc ALL day and night - with a few mates.
After a while I am level 50, I then RvR and a while later am a high realm rank.

I then form part of an 'uber' group. We all run together nearly all the time and we win all encounters.

What do I do ? well I run up fast and hit the insta-win button. Of course we have all the realm abilities that let us do that - multiple purges etc. resist buffers.

And I think to myself I am a great player !!!


What have I done - i pressed the instamezz button, or the uninterruptable 10 seconds of pbaoe casting - after insta stun mezz root whatever.

So in answer - no you are not a great player - those are the ones at RR3 or 4 or so who work hard in a group trying to overcome the top level button killers.


Yeah - its a whinge - we got pwned ( or is it ownded ?) in emain after running as a full group and doing well in some wicked 2 and 3 way open field fights with sometimes up to 3 or 4 groups per side in numbers. We got totally pwn3d!!
We mezzed first, we rooted first, all purged away then before we could move pop the zed's over our heads and in walks the luri mana bomber - 3 casts and we are dead so all our 'skill' haha at RvR just got blown by 2 or 3 button pushers.

Fix it goa --- cancel all the instant hit me to win buttons -- please return to the game a modicum of skill

Yep, pbaoe is 1-button win...thats exactly what it is. Its not hard to get pbaoe off in the middle of a group without getting disturbed nonstop, not at all.

I just finished my 3 year education and had my summer holiday, and am getting a job next week....so guess I'm a looser as well.

Well you can leave the RL-aspect from it. But basically DAOC is:


1 Time = RP.

2 RP = more RA

3 more RA = more fights you win

4 more fights you win = more RP

5 goto 2


Class inbalance / Realm inbalance changed this abit, but in the end it helps alot to win more fights if you get more RP. Because then you can afford those RA's to win more fights. And then you get more RP so you can etc etc.

It's only a fact that RA's made the difference between casual players and hardcore players bigger and bigger.

RvR in Doac works the opposite way to how you learn to keep your balance when riding a bicycle. You start out riding a big bicycle for grown ups and rarely travel on straight line between 2 points as a fresh lvl 50 without realm ranks and end up riding a tricycle at realm rank 10.
