the top one has a dip in the diagonal line but its so nearly straight the eye misses it you can see by looking at the ratio it goes up on the top triangle:

On the red section of the first triangle the base is 8 and its 3 high giving it a slope of 1 across 0.375 up (3/8)

On the green section on the first triangle the base is 5 and its 2 high giving it a slope of 1 across 0.4 up (2/5)

If you drew a line from corner to corner and got the area of the space left over you would see that it equaled 1 square (ie the space left when its drawn correctly) :)

There you go

Nope - its series -

Usage Note: Series is both a singular and a plural form. When it has the singular sense of “one set,” it takes a singular verb, even when series is followed by of and a plural noun: A series of lectures is scheduled. When it has the plural sense of “two or more sets,” it takes a plural verb: Two series of lectures are scheduled: one for experts and one for laypeople.
