How are champs, especially banelord champs, nowadays? :X

Basically I don't want to be a fotm, I will enjoy playing a hybrid but I would rather like being invited to groups however

Or will this be alright with NF? :X

champs are fun to play, sadly, champs will become FoTM in NF :< In PvE we are decent enough. PvP we are most of the time, forgotten (at the mo) and ppl favor BG hero's and even BM's.

Im Battlemaster spec at the mo, and really thinkin bout going to banelord, LW spec doesnt suit BMaster at all. banelord seems to be more offencive and battlemaster is defence.

Offensive Champs arent the way to go sadly, Tank groups are virtually dead with the introduction of bodyguard.
Champions in NF with BG, Det5 and thier debuffs will be THE best defensive Tank by far.
If you want an offensive Tank roll a BM, Champs dmg output isnt even comparable.

And why would they be the best defensive tank seeing as when you spec s/s you will lose spec points on the debuffs that make them special, if you stay LW you're not defensive however. ;d

The RA changes will improve Champs onto par with other Tanks.
Det5, Static Tempest(AoE Attack - Procs 3s Stun every 5s)


Why would they lose points going S/S?
- 50 Valor
- 42 Shield
- 39 1Hand

You really cant have an offensive Champ in a Mage group, the dmg isnt fast enough to compare to a BM.
They will be very good BGer, probably taking the place of Hero's in groups, but we'll see

Det 5 in NF is not the same as Det 5 now, purge 3 might improve a champs chances, but det5 isnt a solution and with stoicisim, their hit points, hero RA, moose etc, heros will remain THE best defensive tank by far.

hes right imo.

And champs wont replace heros. Itll only create a diffrent option...

One thing thats not been mentioned is that while your BG your caster you can interrupt enemie casters too.. aand tanks hitting you can be debuffed.. so they basically miss. I love my s/s spec champ. Respecing s/s was the single best move i made. :touch:

nope seriosly.. champs aint the easiest class to play in the world.. most fun by far.. but so far.. not easy in rvr..

NF will see lots of champs respeccing to shield.. but even then.. it takes practice.. LOTS of practice.

you've all heard my shite here like.. oh i can solo lost seed quest.. and i can solo low purples.. well i can.. but thats down to fact i have played shield spec champ from day 1. and i dont know everything yet.. always room to improve.

dont roll champs if u wanna be fotm come NF.. coz they are quite tricky to play tbh.. hehe

With Mastery of Focus 2 (4 points) u could go 42Valour, 50 shield, 39 blades or 42 valour, 46 shield 44 blades maybe?

I pve'd (properly) the whole way as s/s champ and loved it tbh, respecced to LW at 50 and have constantly wished I hadn't, apart from Annhialation which is nice on running healers/casters

My champ is LW still, and probably will stay that way in NF. Pressure to change to S/S is strong though, both PvE and RvR

Ahh well, see what happens imo, chances are Champs will get booted to touch before the end of beta :touch:

everyone is talking about LW or S/S but how about a P/S ?

atm I'm 37 and full valor/LW ( I am keen btw )
and was going to go shield for sure @ 40 , but I tought pierce would do better with me then blades ?

or will my dmg-output will still be higher if I just go blade and use horizon blade ( block-chain )
and the any-time chain ?

was thinking , if I go pierce I'll mostly use :
the block-chain
the 3style any-time chain
the stun and then side-chain

my spec was going to be : 50V/39P/42Shield
50 valor and 42 shield I don't need to explain but I wasn't going higher then 39 P because the 2 higher styles are based of an evade-chain and that's pretty useless for someone with evadeI ...

so what's best for a keen ?
39P/42Sh/50valor
or 39blades/42sh/50valor

There is no *right* spec. Okay just so you know. Its pretty much what you like and as a sheild champ damage is not really high on your list of prioritys.

Im blades spec because.. i pretty much like swords and the fact that at 39 blades it works out pretty well for me. Im actualy thinking of dropping my valor in return for more blades but im not overly persuaded with the arguments either way.. and what i have seems to work for me. Maybe if some kind person happens to drop 2x respec stones my way ill give it a whirl.. but i dont like the idea of a point of no return.

ANyway! So in answer to your question. I dont have an answer. only a load of drivel thats been spouted aboiut a bazillion times on these forums before in response to questions like yours. Namley. Its up to you.

ok doubthing between P/S and S/S still but now I've found another "flaw" in the S/S-peeps , it might now be a flaw and I'm just being ignorant tho,

with horizon blade you get a "whooping" 5 sec. stun ... that's good ofc unless you need to slam to get a quick get-away if some more mids/albs come running along or he's getting the upper-hand ... ofc I do release we got the snare shout but still ... if you block and want to use the block-chain your slam's stun is going to be halved or immuned , don't know excactly :s

so plz answer these both Q's tx ^^ , atm still very doubthing between the 2 and I'm 38 atm so 40's getting closer
