Someone ruined it with their "house prices will go down" bullcrap.

All houses are going up, people like to fix the ones they have and keep them in good condition, making prices go up. Other people buy property for the simple fact of making houses look nicer, hence putting up prices.

No downward spiral here, either get a better job or live in a council estate.

depressing topic anyway... me & my missus are looking at buying a place, but prices are just generally piss-takes, so we're waiting till they come down to somewhere near reasonable...

This is Not A Good Thing (TM). I had a thought of a way out of my "bastard landlord selling house I'm living in" problem - it was to get my mum to buy a house down here and rent it to students (plus me). If we found a nice place near the uni, it would be a cash cow, but not at the current prices. :(

Come down south, Wij. Houses here are made of ice-cream and marshmallow and we have the largest co><0rz your fiance has ever seen.

Come and crush a cup of wine! They're free! Thanks to the governments favour of the South-East.

I was talking to a friend down here, he and hi missus just bought 1 bedroomed house for 108 grand FFS with a small garden and nothing else.. unfekinbelievable.

We have a largeish 3 bedroomed detached with garage, and 3 big gardens .. £68,500 thank you very much. That was 2 years ago and the value has gone up by 25 k now..

Tell you what, If I was spending £108, 000 on a house I'd want an indoor toilet.

Nice? Dellusional young pup. Having looked at ex and current student houses in canterbury, you buy the most delapidated shite heap in the area, get someone to vomit woodchip over the walls and then paint it lung cancer colour, stick a toilet in the understairs cupboard and voila, £60 a week per person.
