http://www.outlook.com for all ye Hotmail users.

Interesting how they're consolidating everything and making everything Metro. Not sure how I feel about it right now. Targeting Google? For shame, for shame.

It's the final straw that broke the camel's back IMO.
Account cleaned out, contacts wiped and account deactivated.
As long as I don't sign in for 9 months (easy enough), it'll be gone.

No great loss.

Until they start charging who gives a shit it is just a new UI nothing to get upset about. And also seeing as they give me 20 plus GB of sky drive I will be keeping my completely free account as long as possible.

Actually looks OK. May end up as a spam filled hellhole after 20 minutes, but I figured I'd sign up an account anyway. Nothing to lose.

Reading over my post last night made it seem like the change was the primary reason I closed my account. It wasn't.
I've not used Hotmail/MSN for many months now, and all my contacts know my "real" contact details. I've not missed it for the last year or so, so I might as well ditch it altogether.

I think the UI looks quite nice. As we know from Google, consolidation & a consistent UI seems to work well so I'm not surprised they're doing it.

Guess they've obviously decided that Outlook can do them more good as a brand for everyone as supposed to a brand for desktop e-mail.

I use hotmail. Do I need to do anything?

Send me your credit card numbers, 3 digit code (On the back!), your N.I. (Or equiv) number, address, name, dogs name, mother's maiden name, where you grew up, your favourite author, favourite book, favourite school and your last 5 years of addresses.

Then I'll tell you what you have to do.

Yeah, plus them trying to make Metro massive is a good incentive too. It's not bad, I mean, I find it a little cleaner than hotmail in a way, but I refuse to switch an an @outlook.com address.

Some people are saying it is because they will give away Outlook 2013 with Windows 8 instead of Live Mail, it is a good thing imo.

this is an issue. i checked outlook.com, and i couldnt remember my hotmail password, and to reset it they want me to send them a list of my previous passwords. i'm sure it's genuine, but i dont feel comfortable just sending off a list of my passwords to anyone.

I'm surprised they're asking tbh... how do they know you have previous passwords and haven't just forgotten your current one?
