Watched this last night for the first time. Brilliant. Can't remember the last time I stuck on a DVD and then when it was finished just started watching it again.

spaced - brilliant

shaun of the dead - decent

hot fuzz - meh

i think simon pegg and edgar wright make a great team, but i felt they ran out of ideas hugely since spaced. if you enjoyed hot fuzz, you should definitely watch spaced. it does the whole, speedy editing and cartoon-y style, with heaps of intertextuality - but it did it first, and is way funnier (imo at least).

It's great but I found a bit long and dragged on at the cinema

Hot Fuzz is way better than Shaun of the Dead imo, and really takes it back to the Spaced days.

While SotD just parodies the Romero films pretty much which gets boring after about 30 minutes, HF parodies hundreds of action films and gets the references just right. Daft though it sounds in the context as well, but I found HF more believable, the characters were better imo.

Still not a patch on Spaced, but much closer than SotD ;)

I didnt think much of it tbh, was probably the hype. Really enjoyed Shaun of the Dead though.

Interesting that so many (not just on this thread, but elsewhere too) complain (or perhaps merely mention and aren't complaining) that such and such is not as funny as Spaced.

I may get the exact words of the quote wrong but years ago Joseph Heller, the author of Catch 22, was asked in an interview why he hadn't written anything as good as Catch 22 since. He replied, "Has anyone?"

I just wish Pegg would stop making these silly films and write the 3rd series of Spaced that he promised all those years ago :(

I read the Woman is blocking Spaced series 3 as she has other jobs atm and is using it as a fall back. Was only a forum post though so not sure how true it is.

And I thing H F was a brilliant film if you dont watch it expecting it to be like spaced ect as its own film its great compared to spaced ect it could be a let down.
