My Air-con in the car is now pushing out hot air :p

It was fine till the very cold winter - is it likely that all the refrigerant gas has escaped as the seals shrank in the cold?

Otherwise could it be the heat exchanger thats failed?

There should be a dial on your dashboard you can turn to make the air coming out cooler.

(sorry!)

Air con gas has lubricants in it which keeps everything all nice and moist, if you don't use your air con for ages it can lead to the seals hardening then losing the gas.

Hopefully a refill will be your answer, last summer Kwik Fit had a great deal on, they guaranteed your air con will be (so much, can't remember) colder or you don't pay. Pretty sure that deal will still be on and its what you want in case it isn't simply a re-gas.

I had mine regassed just yesterday, by a mate of a mate. £40, and its gone from cool to chilly air. The best bit is, he reckons he couldn't get all the old gas out, so he's asked me to come back after I've done a few miles and the new/old gas has swilled around a bit, to have another go (for nothing). I've just done 250 miles today so I'll be back sooner than he thinks :)

Although I'd never recommend them for anything else, I've never heard a bad thing said about Kwik Fit's aircon service. Its about £50, they give you your money back if they don't make it x% cooler. All done on a machine so no chance really of some YTS buffoon making a mess of it.

I recently had my car serviced and MOTed and asked them to take a look at the air con which hasnt worked properly since I got it. They phoned me up to say that they needed to add a dye to the gas to see where the leaks might be, and it would be £75, I said no to that and just the service/ MOT. When I got back in my car the air con was working for the first time, so they must have done something to it free of charge, no gas refill charge on the receipt anyway.

If your car's AirCon needs regassing, that usually means it's got a leak.
You may find you have a problem with the mixer valve that lets hot coolant into the blender to heat the air in winter.
