So i "inherited" a Onkyo A-SV610PRO (2.1 surround) from my brother in law a few weeks back, and since then i've gotten 2 more speakers.

Problem is that i can't get those to work.

There are connections for 4 main speakers, but only the 2 front speakers, sattelites and center speakers have sound.

I've read the instruction manual i don't know how many times but i just can't figure it out.

Does anyone here have any experience with these types of amplifiers and can explain it to me in a "for dummies" way?

I really don't want to use 2 speakers per connection just to get sound out of all 4 but if i can't get it to work i'l have to... :(

u sure he didnt give it to you cause it was broke .. a lot of amps have 2 zones so you can pipe music etc into different rooms ... but you shouldnt need to populate all zones to get it to work .. just make sure the zone that the speakers are on is active

Is this your amp?

So does it take a standard stereo input and give you "surround" sound as in, gives you stereo sound through multiple speakers? Do you have a multimeter to hand?

Yeah that's the one. I have the front speakers connected to the top of the connectors marked Main and the rear to the lower ones marked remote, and it's the one marked remote i can't get sound out of, and according to the manual is for speakers that i may or may not want to have in a different room.

About the possibility of it being broken, sure it's there i suppose. But he never used those as he only had 2 speakers + the small surround speakers.

And no, i don't have access to a multimeter.

Forgot to add about the surround being stereo faking surround or true surround.

I haven't got a clue. It says surround, and i have dolby pro logic and hall. The display has a few more settings but either they aren't included in this model or it is indeed broken because i can't turn them on.

And 2 sub settings for the pro logic setting called wideband and phantom.

So you tell me if that's "real" surround or not because i couldn't tell if it walked up and spat me in the face... :)

AHA!!!

Fixed it, stupid ass multi source...

Basically what i had to do is select multi source and then re select the output channel (in this case CD) and THEN enable the "remote" speakers...

What the fuck is wrong with having 2 buttons labeled Speaker A and Speaker B?

Stupid thing is tho, i cant run surround with remote enabled....

That's because the "remote" speakers are a second zone. They mirror the front speakers, it's not a surround amp, it's 2.1 system.

You can't get it to work as you want, because it's not meant to.

Well, at least they could have connected them to the main volume control :/

Annoying to have to use the remote controller just to alter the volume on the rear speakers when i have the amplifier under my PC monitor... :)

Oh well it was free, shouldn't complain really...

Again, they aren't connected to the main volume as they are meant to be set up in a separate room, so you can have different volumes for different moods.
