I missed a large portion of the middle of the match but one incident that confused me I turned it on to see Deco get thrown to the ground by a Dutch player then Deco got sent off.. and the other player not even a warning.

After the England-Equador game this was really a nice game to watch.
Even if the ref seemed to lost controll about the game and himself it was entertainment on it's highest lvl.

As a german there's only one thing left to say (or sing :p):
"Ohne Holland fahrn wir nach Berlin, ohne Holland fahrn wir nach Berlin!" :)

Can't say it wasen't entertaining, would have found it more just if Holland had won, but that's football :D
Robben has become Man of the match 2 out of 3 matches, can't blame a guy like that for having a single off-day. I think Van Persie played well though, was playing around with Nuno Valente :)
Van der Vaart is always good too and I just hate Deco. He may be a good football player, but I really hate him. Was the best thing for me the whole night, that he got sent off :D
And rofl at Sneijder pushing Petit over, when Petit was screaming whoever was lying on the ground in the face and trying to pull him up :p

Not really, alot of refs would have let many of them slip by and actually enforce control.

By opening the match up with a few easy yellow cards he dictated the mannor of the game. Players thought "if i go down he will get booked" leading to "if i go down he will be sent off". That is why BOTH portugal and dutch players were playing in the dirt (yes Angelheal, dutch were just as bad for diving, but not the time wasting as they couldnt afford it but they do that whenever they have lead)

If he hadnt opened up with bookings, just given the free kick and spoke to the player and warned them that futher conduct would lead to the booking (which all refs that have player respect do) then he would have been more in control. Players wouldnt have fallen down constantly and the game would have flowed. Yes most cards could be given within the rules but common sense is needed at the early stages. Once he started he had no chance of stopping because people could turn round and say "you booked 4 players for less then that, how comes you not booking him now?"

With 2 or 3 (Ronaldo :<) of their key-players gone, I don't see how Portugal will be able to beat England.

So England-Argentina should be pretty entertaining to watch in the semis :p

I think it comes down to the new guidelines by Fifa, Corran. He is just following them more punctually than others

Because it was a dutch freekick and Deco grabbed the ball to delay the match further more. Of course it is frustrating for Holland. Deco got a yellow card and had one already, hence red and getting sent off.

Portugal fucking disgusts me, it is a damn shame that they actually win with that lame playstyle. Saddens me to see a team like that advance after the worst match ever. They get a cheap goal and then delays the game in every way they can, and of course Holland get some easy yellow cards resulting in red cards and stuff.

Oh, and I heard that Hollywood producers hired the Portugese team for upcoming movies due to their great talent in acting :wanker:

Disgusting.

I dont know what are your knoledge about football, but portuguese team seems to be very mature tacticaly. even with the odds against them with costinha out and ronald out (for injury) they stil managed to create danger in holland's GK.

regarding holands "easy read cards" well i think ronaldo's cant agree with you in that. and what i saw was a good match. with a poor referee.

both teams played well with their limitations, robben was very dangerous in 1st half but i think miguel rearranged himself and in 2nd half robben didnt played much. The key substitution was when holand put in that 100 feet tall striker. was a bad move we all know how good ricardo carvalho is Bombing balls to the area is just not good tactic. If van nistelroy entered maybe would be diferent.

Well i hope you get some stomach pills for saturday because Portugal wont fall over englands feet. like in euro 2004 and 2000.

Portugal amazed me how good tactical they were defending. maybe the best performance in the world cup.

But i am portuguese so my judjement is not bullet proof :)

Dutch were diving from the start - they got everything they deserved tonight and it was great to see them go out for their cheating alone. Ref was a joke and Portugal are no angels when it comes to cheating, but Holland were a disgrace. Arjen Robben in particular is a tosser.

Tactically Big Phil got it spot on and even without Deco and Costinha England are going to have to improve 100% to beat them.

Best one was when 1 dutch and 1 portugal(think It was Deco and van Bonkhorst) sat side by side slagging off ref when they both were sent off

Nothing else to say about this match to be fooking honest.

Not saying we would have beaten Portugal without it ... but that guy should never ever be allowed to pick up a whistle again.

mja, and what ever more 'funnier' is.. after the match you see all those portugeese and dutch players sitting together talknig about the refferee.

since ½ the pitch where teammates of eachother in normal competition.

ie: chealsea, barcalona etcxD

You are a sad man to be honest.. Someone just lost his chance of playing in a great game in the world cup because of a foul tackle and you sit around and laugh about it.. Sad..

Meh, footballers get flamed when they play for the money and now they get laughed at for enjoying the game. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Also, you can hardly blame him for making a lot of money. Blame the people who pay him (everyone watching football). It's probably unfair that he makes so much money, but that is how the system works. He can't help it. If he didn't accept the wage because it's too high, it would just go into the pockets of some businessmen.

The ref made the game so dead to break every minute for the acting falling portugees.
Holland was lucky that Boulahrouz was not send of after 5 minutes because that charge
on Ronaldo was in my eyes a red card.

Figo headbanging v bommel down (ok it was not hard but does not belong to soccer) should
have gotten a red card for that.

The reason why Heijtinga did not give the ball to Portugal should be clear, Figo just
made boulahrouz getting his second yellow card while it was not a yellow card. The
attack Deco did on Heijtinga should be punished with a deep dark red card.

Dutch coach van basten made the mistake to bring vd vaart into the game for defender
Mathijsen, he should have let Mathijsen in, and change vd vaart for Boulahrouz since
he was having a yellow card from the begin and it was only a matter of time he would
received his second card.

Van Persie was the best man on the dutch side, Cocu hitting the crossbar was just
unlucky, all my blame goes to the referee, that did not allow us to see a match, the
6 extra minutes could be easy pushed up to 15 extra minutes.

The goalkeeper from Portugal Ricardo received a yellow card because he was holding up
the match, but after he received that card he did not stop holding up the game. I hope
Fifa will change rules, that a refferee can give a second yellow card for the same
action.

Holland would not have won the CUP, but to see holland getting out of the championship
like this is not good.

My rates for the dutchplayers

vd sar - 8 Always a player you can count on
boulahrouz - 7 Solid defending again
ooijer - 6 Was ok
mathijsen - 6 Was ok
vd vaart - 5 he should not play, he was still not 100% ready from his injury
v bronckhorst - 6 he and v bommel where responsible for the goal
v bommel - 5 he and v bronckhorst where responsible for the goal
heitinga - 5 im sure he wont win the fairplay price
sneijder - 5 as a midfielder he should not me next to the striker
cocu - 6 as a captain i did not see him controlling the team to good
venegoor - 7 he should be brought in 10 mins earlier, he played decent
v persie - 8 best player of the match for the dutchteam
kuyt - 7 played decent, shame he missed 2 very good changes
robben - 5 like 2 years ago, he had problems with the defender from portugal

I hear some people saying he should brought KlaasJan Huntelaar, Davids, Seedorf,
Makaay, Kluivert to Germany, but im not sure if that would help. The young players
have a good experience now for the Europian 2008 tournement (if they qualify)
KlaasJan Huntelaar will be then selected and hope he will show some good goals.

My tournement is over, for the people that have there country still in, i wish
good luck, My favorite is Holland since there out i dont have a favorite now. But
i think Argentina, Spain and Italie showed some good play, and they make a very
good change winning the Cup.

Ronald one of the top euro players lol, waves his legs in circles (yes it work on shit defenders) better 1s just laugh at him, if he does get by his crosses are normally pathetic. Best performance of world cup? if thats the best performance footy is rlly fcked up, Poutugal and Holland where out there to win by gettin the other players booked or sent of, that aint football.
before this game the argies was the team i wanted least to win, think Pourtugal just leapt to the top of the list playing like that
