Hmm, weird prob

Played FFXI once before, and decided to give it a go again. Though, here's problem:

I go to install PlayOnline (& TetraMaster) and it starts installing, after a few seconds I get:
Error: 1629 failed to complete installation.

Anyone know what the problem could be or how to fix it?

This is the exact message I get:

"1628: Failed to complete installion".

I installed DirectX, then when I go to install PlayOnline&TetraMaster I get this message.. Damn, this is v annoying..

This is really starting to piss me off, I have deleted shit load of stuff off my comp to make sure there is enough RAM space etc and still same problem.. /cry

I think this is SE just trying to screw you over for un-installing their game. The best I could suggest would be going into your registry and deleting all items relating to POL, Tetra and FFXI.

Sorted. Just had to make a new login with full-admin access on my computer, also deleting all current PlayOnline files so it doesnt make "back-up files".. Atm, just downloading patches. Will be looking for a guild *cough* Linkshell :> Preferably would like to join Aurora as it's what I was in before. Will be making a Galka Monk probably, Sub-Job not decided.. Mnk/War I guess

The ETA on downloading the patch is over 3 and a half hours, is it really that big?

took me 2 hours to download it on 600k and about 5 mins to install it (i think).

Took me just over 4 hours from start to finish, to install and patch, including the Play Online installation.

Also, about half way through I had an error, so do I need to re-do it all or will it save that part I downloaded and do only the bits I need?

Bah, won't let me edit last post.. Well anyway..

I get an error message when doing the patch. It happens after just a few % and has happend 5x in a row. This is the error message:

Network Connection Error

Error Code: POL -2050

"No response from server. Please try again later or check networking devices such as cables, your router or network settings."

Anyone know how to get around this or why I keep getting it ?

LAN was f**ked, just took modem out bro's comp, put in mine and D/L speed is much faster, 3% to go, cya all in-game
