I've got HL2 on pre-order but also have steam installed. I like the idea of having a boxed version though even if it is a few quid more.

Thanks Tom! Time to put some of this unused Friday-afternoon corporate bandwidth to some use...

BTW, the HL2 preload has been pushed back to Monday, because of updates to the CS:S beta.

Causing the usual barrage of delay rumours - myself, I'm still hopeful, although a little dubious considering the gold date Doug Lombardi named for the September release was "early August". It's now heading towards late August... :(

Apocalypse Now, one of the best films in cinematic history, was delayed by at least a year due to unforseen circumstances, and Coppola's insistence on things being done properly. It was regularly called 'Apocalypse When?' in many newspapers and industry magazines. Nobody is bitter about the delay now.

Or, for a more relevant example, Half-Life 1 was delayed by about a year itself, and is seen as a bit good.

Speaking of which, I hear a sequel to it is in the works... ;)
