I can't remember the command, but you type this thing in the console, it spins the screen around a couple of times and then tells you your true fps which can be over the hl supported 100. This is why some people go on about having 200fps and stuff, because that is their true maximum within Hl......if it supported it.

You cant get over 100fps in HL..

Timerefresh is cack and meaningless...

Timedemo means more ;)

Thats it..couldn't remember what the damn commands where cos to be honest...I'm happy with my fps and dont really give a toss what it is. But I knew there was a couple that showed the true fps.
Oh, and I did say you can't get more than 100fps in HL, the bit where I say HL doesn't support more than 100, come on Skyler, quoting me and then not even reading what I typed :p. Those commands just show you the potential as it were. Crap explanation but then I'm crap at explaining :p.

God this conversation has gone around so often.
100 fps is maximum in Half Life. Timerefresh is utterly meaning less.
Lastly, you lot must be mad running your pc's at 100fps then going down to 50 in a firefight. What is the point? it must be so jerky !
Why not set maxfps to 50 if thats your lowest, then it will be smooth, and you'l loose nothing.

So now I know why I can never get you to 'pause' by copious use of smokies. Gah! :)

You know, my PC isn't new by a long way (heh, like I said, put together from various housem8s old pc's) and my fps doesn't drop below 90 normally.

ps. Hey Jobs, you killing Buffy a lot now he's back into CS :)

i've set my fps max to be the same as my monitor refresh rate at 1024 * 768

The fact that its 100Hz is merely a coincidence :D

and thats only a 17" ... fek me it does 72 Hz in 1600 *1200!
