I though it was a great film and they managed to stay close enough to the game to let me enjoy it. As i love the games i was dredding watching it as i though it would ruin everything.

The movie keeps what it promises: ACTION!

So if you judge the movie as an action movie and not expecting much more you'll be pretty satisfied after watching it..

Films bomb becuase not many people go to see them and/or it receives appalling reviews

If you enjoyed it, thats all that matters.

The thing is, that if some art-noir, fancypants critic tells that "Hitman is just a stupid action movie with no plot", then those who isten to those fancypants, won't watch it, which means less revenue, which means less of a chance for a sequel.

That's the downside, other then that, absolutely right. Also, while on the matter, i hate those who say "remakes are bull", because, frankly, if you like the grainy 80s pile of wank(on modern standards of quality) for the sentimental value, then don't watch the remake. Some actually like to see the same story, in different wrapping.

Anyhoo, rant over, Hitman is absolutely wonderful.

lmao i bloody love that name, Olyphant! thats soo cool, though there is an old woman used to come in the library with the surname Boobier (pron: Booby-air) which is also good.

I didnt see it but i want to, looks fun. What about that one with monica belluchi in it? forgotten what thats called but that looked quite fun too, lots of shooting etc...actually was it called shoot em up? or something similar?

Aye 'Shoot em up'. Tis all a bit mental and fractured to be honest, the plot is wafer thin and the effects defy all logic. Still, it was pretty good in places. :)

One thing did bother me:

Wasn't hitman supposed to be some form of a vatican mercenary, and in this he was with the cia? Or might have missed something in the end, or from the original story, or from what i've heard of it.

In this he works for a secret independient organization which offers the services of highly trained assasins. He is betrayed by their own bosses and became a hit.

I understood that, it was rather obvious, just thought the cia or some such was involved in the end. Have to check again back home. But mostly, is the vaticans assassin thing completely thrown out the window? Just curious.

You are right he bribes smith to help him escape. I assume it is with information about missions 47 has done for Smith through out the game :)

Not mentioned in the movie for sure. Maybe its something from his past like how he blackmails the CIA to rescue him at the end of the movie. But 100% sure the vatican isnt mentioned anywhere.

Yeah, that's what i thought. But i remember from somewhere, that he IS, in the games aka original story, a hitman for the vatican, or rather, works for them or some such. That's the whole thing i was rather, well, interested in also, and when it was lacking completely, i was just thinking if it was my memory or some PC thing because it wasn't in there.

Well just finished watching it and it a pretty good film.

Only thing that bugged me was the beginning. It just felt like I was watching Dark Angel.

Kids, barcode tattoo, breaking out, kid point gun towards camera, getting over chainlink fence.... gah :p

Aparently it upset all the Hitman game lovers?????

Well personally I've played all the games and all the missions in them about 1000000 times. Possibly I'm just too much of a fan to see how crap it was? I admit it wasn't the best movie / plot line, but it was still very much enjoyable

edit: also why didn't they use the referance to the game about his alias, as in Tobias Nickolai (sp?)

Spoilers Confused, spoilers. Even if "insignificant.

that's exactly what i meant. It has a few "why isn't it in here?" moments, like the vatican assassin(could someone confirm it's so in the games?) and other such as the alias. Easy things to add, but missing, so most hardcore fans might take offense.
