Honestly, either fuck the lot of them off, or create a separate server in your box (can you do that?), so in effect you're running 2 forums seamlessly, give the generalites the cool features, and give 'them' the bread and water.

It's all about board visibility and what people are allowed to do. I suspect that it's technically possible (bearing in mind I don't run vBulletin, only pbpBB, the poor cousin :p). By "them", I take it you're referring to the eOT crowd?

It would stress the backoffice part of the site, tho, which would cause problems. It's already bad enough when the DAoC crowd (Yes, I play. Does that make me a twat, too?) coming here when there's a patch or server outage. Running a second set of boards for the spammer contingent might not be the best idea, to be honest.

Of course, this is just me laying out my opinion.

Tom is asking if the DAoC forums can be moved onto a totally separate set of forums, so that (for example) the new posts function isn't full of threads that we cretins up here don't understand.

I won't say anything else other than I am in favour of moving the DAoC boards.

Heh, I thought as much.

If I knew the bandwidth stats, I'd offer to mirror or something. It's probably some horrendous amount though, given the almost-permanent number of people browsing the DAoC section.

I give a shit about both communities - despite the fact that the DAoC one I came from originally seems to be incredibly reviled by the one I now spend most of my time reading.

Something has to be done.

Ummmmm dont you post on the DAoC forums? Or is that another totally different Tom?

So would you like your bread and water now, or later?

Seems like a good idea. If we really wanted to look at each other's forums then we could just type another address.

Read Will's post. Posting on either section of these forums doesn't deny me the right to have an opinion about the way this place could be configured for the better.

BTW, I think they should have the same address as they do now, just when you go to the DAOC section, its on a physically separate computert, if that makes sense

Burn them.

BURN THEM ALL!

Seriously, we're bound to have their addresses somewhere...

:D

PS: I won't say I told you so.

But I told you so. Like re-housing a paedophile next to a primary school and naively hoping for the best, IIRC.

I think FreddysHouse could do worse than setup some seperate DAoC forums, they could even do some DAoC content as well seeing as it seems the entire DAoC community is based here. It also doesn't stop people from posting on both so I can't really see what would be wrong with it.

I think all (or the majority) of the Daoc community are thankful to Deebs/TDG for hosting the Daoc forums. The vitriol here from the generalites (to coin a phrase) is astounding though and I've not seen anything like it in the Daoc forums - Note that I don't frequent/look at EOT <shudder> so there might be justification there for the kind of attitudes I see in this thread.

Do shut the fuck up, the lot of you. This theme of General vs DAoC in a topic is now more glen than glen.

Thanks.
