For the last few days from 5pm onwards my ping as shot over 200 which is naffin me off seeing that quite a few severs boot you off for being that high.I have also noticed that the ping list in the MOHAA browser server panel has also risen.
please somebody help so I can get back to gaming heaven.

p.s the ping rate comes back down through the day time

the MOH/Spearhead furum is here.

perhaps you could also post such things as your connection type, ISP and things llike traceroute output. it will help diagnosing your problems.

If you are experiencing high pings of an evening only that would suggest to me some form of saturation on your DSL network or the network of the servers where you play. If it is on BW servers then I doubt it is the latter so I would go complaining to your ISP.

fairly positive you're running windows, so to do a 'traceroute' perform the following:

start>run>cmd <enter>
-a "dos box" will open
type tracert a.b.c.d <enter>
where "a.b.c.d" is the IPnumber of the MoH server you are going to test.
the output looks like this:
Code:
Tracing route to server.somewhere.com [10.0.0.2]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 10.0.0.1
  2 22 ms 23 ms 24 ms 10.0.0.2

what you need to look for are hops (the numbers denote "hops" with a high ping time, or timeouts (a * is a timeout). machines with excessive pingtimes or timeouts usually are problematic places on the internet. you can also ping the MoH servers you are going to connect to to see if there is any 'packet loss'. "PL" as it's known is another indication of network problems or heavily loaded machines.

Your connection type and hardware are slightly more important to fixing this problem than your sound card...

look m8 the best way to get an answer is ....

1) do that tracert thingy.

2) highlight it, then right click, you will see a popup click COPY.
or just press the alt key and c key at the same time.

3) post a reply on this thread

4) when you have navigated the name and password bit, press alt and v at the same time.

5) ohhhhhhhhhhh its like magik!!!! look what i did !!!!
the tracert has just come up on here :wij:

6) say ohh cheers blokes if only i knew where to post this question i woulda been far better off, and sufferd far less sarcasm!

7) get told that bigfoot told you the answer ages ago

8) suffer for five years while learning the copy paste thing (its harder than it looks tbh)

Listen guys I know you're trying to help but the damn thing will not copy and paste onto this forum for some strange reason, otherwise I would have done that ages ago.
So i've given up on the whole thing and am about to tell virgin to shove the service where the sun don't shine.

Yorkiechan, there's just one part you've missed out that everyone here has missed too.

To copy & paste from a DOS box under XP, you must first right-click in the box and click on Mark. Then you'll be able to copy & paste it. :)

or you could click the ickle icon at the top left of the 'box and go to the 'edit' options...like on all the 'doze versions back to the time of the dinosaurs...

aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii :)
