Hidden Depths in WoT :-]

I re-read Book one again recently, and theres so many bits that you dont get first time round untill you've read more.

By this I mean:

When rand and mat are trapped in 4 kings by Gode, and rand uses the one power to make a lightning bolt.

When nynaeve, lan and moiraine rescue perrin and egwene, nynaeve heals perrin.

There are loads of other moments as well in the rest of the books.

Has anyone else spotted some more?

quite a few tbh... can't remember them all, but some things just click when you read it.

Especially about the power in the first book -

Rand giving Bela the strength to continue, for example, and then Rand geting sick... like Morraine explained to Nynaeve when she tried to deny that she could channel

Book one was and still is the best of the 10, it stayed on track and didnt wander off into 100 different plots, it was also action packed, of course I will need to re-read all the books again to back this claim up.

WOT is fantastic for re-reading, the first time I read book one i missed an awful lot of information as I didn't understand a lot of things, the Aiel seemed somewhat irelevant so I didn't remember them well. Re-reading the series though you pick up so much more that you missed previously. Awesome books!

"Missed Parts" are totally personal. Where one person misses something apparently innocuous, another will pick it up and store it away for later reference.

The first few books there are definately a lot of things happening that are not explained till later on.

I agree the first book is the best of the lot.

The later books seem so slow because they are split into telling the stories of 4-6 groups, which means its at 1/4 or 1/6 the pace of the first book :x

I think Jordan should have just concentrated on rand, and finished the series, then written about what was happening to everyone else as a seperate series :-]

Just imho.

for me, that would have spoiled. Remember there are so many "threads" which directly affect Rand, impossible to ignore so must be expanded out.

For me, to split out to different series would resemble what David Eddings did for Polgara et al, which didnt really work too well.

Kan, my advice... don't read a thread on a series of books when you ain't finished em yet. I didn't read any WOT threads when book 10 came out until i'd finished it myself.
