I would recommend a PS2 over a X-Box, seeing as the PS2 is having all these excellent games released at the moment.

I think it is a bit early to give definitive answers to your questions.

I would guess that No, it won't come with a SCART and is likely to cost extra and

Yes there is Jap support because SEGA have already announced games for the X-Box.

hmm

"the ps2 will start to die and ppl lose interest"

thats never gonna happen. i can tell you the outcome of the intdustry by our school.

Nearly everyone is getting / wants a ps2

gamecubs probably comes second coz its made by nintendo

x-box is technologically the best, and if it had ps2 games it would be the best.
Its beating ps2 on internet terms.... 573 people on x box playing tony hawks 3 last night!

I had a whole weekend with a PS2 and GT3, WRC and SSX Tricky (others were so shit I won't mention now).

Completely underawed by it all. GT3 is overrated. Infact the whole GT series has lost its sparkle since the first one which was brilliant. WRC played no better tham CM2. SSX was not bad but in a similar vein I rate Waverace way above it.

I just didn't get much enjoyment from the PS2's games.

Instead of getting into yet another infantile "which-console-is-best" arguement let's look at the facts.

PS2 is out now - has great games. SSX Tricky, Silent Hill 2, GT3 and Devil May Cry to name just a few.

Selling Dreamcast was a mistake, it has many timeless classics which no amount of new PS2/Xbox/GameCube releases will be able to compensate for.

Xbox is probably the better bet of the next Gen consoles to look forward to, even if it is still early days yet. Games like Dead or Alive 3, Project Gotham and in particular Halo are excellent.

GameCube has one interesting title, Star Wars: Rogue Leader which looks the nuts, but non 'Wars fans will obviously not be very interested.

Personally I reckon everyone should just buy everything, but if you are strapped for cash I'd suggest getting a PS2 now and getting an Xbox a year after its release when (a) it will have even more superlative games and (b) may even have dropped in price.

They're often combined but there are big differences, as long as you ignore the same smell ;)

DOA2 is very good, much better than say, Tekken 3 and nearly as good as VF3, you just need to learn how to play it rather than ignorantly dismissing it as shit.

But then saying that, think what you want. I really couldn't care less if you like to play it or not.

The only thing you need to learn is button bashing

Well yes... and no.

You can get through most fighting games by bashing buttons. But why bother? Why not learn the game so you can beat the game with style? The whole point is to become good - not just spaz your way to the end by any means necessary.

Anyway, try actually beating someone who's good at DOA2 with button bashing, you'll soon find they counter you VERY easily.
