I'm afraid my old Hope Vision LED 2 and my new Philips Saferide 80 would vastly overpower your Lezyne. And the latter doesn't dazzle oncoming traffic either, a big problem with a lot of modern lights.

Couldn't justify 200 quid on a light tbfh.

Gonna havetae get me some cheapo chineese import thang of about 3600 lumens. I want daylight as I do some nighttime downhilling. Fed up of not being able to ride where I want to on the dark nights.

And I want to blind drivers too ;)

Sorry but don't exaggerate neither vastly overpower it, the Philips does indeed look impressive considering the wide powerful beam but as I stated they just looked crap on your camera.

Personally the advantages of the Lezyne Power Drive XL (2014) is being light, small, powerful and well made but its problems are at max lumens (475) it will tear through a battery (got a spare) fairly fast and the beam isn't exactly massively wide either and it can easily dazzle drivers if positioned badly but as stated I live in London and if I didn't I would of picked something else.

You can in the country, probably should if you are serious about cycling safely.

PS Did Throddy's family member seem ok?

I'm not exaggerating. Your Leyzene throws out light in every direction. My Philips doesn't - it aims it in a specific direction. While yours does its best to light the trees above your head, mine just illuminates the road and verges. Nothing else. It is a vastly superior light. And if I do go onto unlit trails, the Hope will illuminate everything I could possibly wish to see.

When it comes to lighting, I've done my research and know what works. The majority of bicycle lights sold right now just throw light around aimlessly. Only a few lights actually try to aim it like a car headlamp; which when you're cycling on the road, is exactly what you need.

It launched itself out of the hedge on the left, I had about two seconds to react. I think that was why I made the odd gurning sound, I knew I was going to hit it.

And for the last time, the camera doesn't show how powerful my lights are.

I've made that sound many a time when cycling. The 'scream in preparation for the inevitable' sound.

The only crashes I've had was off road many years ago and the only sound that could be heard was my mate laughing, although I did the same to him when he crashed. I've never had an on road crash in the entire time I've ridden *Touch Wood* although I did fear recently that some how when I finally decided to buy a proper reflective waterproof jacket and a new light that somehow I would now have one in an ironic twist of fate, although can't say badgers are much of a problem round here but you get the odd suicidal squirrel.
