Help with some math equation

I've got this equation i need help with.

A car drives a certain stretch of road in a year. y=f(x)

The amount of miles = x

The amount it costs = y

x = 0, 2000
y=2000, 42000

Now i am supposed to draw this line in a graph and show it, but i really forgot how to.

And for the next assignment, i am supposed to write an equation for this line.

Draw the diagram without graph

It will start at x=0, y=2000 (i.e far up on the X scale), make a marking. Then make a marking on x=2000, y=42000. Make a straight line between the dots :)

I think that would be correct :p

f(x) = mx + b

m being the slope
b being where the line crosses the y-axis


Now i need to think :(

m = change in Y/change in X = 40000/2000
b should be solved by inserting 0 in the equation for X
f(0) = m*0 + b => b=2000

f(x) = (40000/2000)x + 2000

But perhaps wait for someone who remembers a bit more :p
