I'm a level 41 Fire Wizard and a guild friend of mine very kindly made me an AF45 Silksteel cloth set. Onbviously I need to get it SC'd but I dont know the first thing about it Ive done a bit of reading on it, but basically I'm not entirely sure what I need to ask for and what I need to get. If anybody has any suggestions I'd very much appreciate it :)

Download the SC calculator and have a fiddle around. If you're going to be PvEing only in this suit, I wouldn't bother tweaking too much...
Just cap hits con dex int and your melee resists (any other types of dmg commonly used my mobs? Not AFAIK in albion..) and wait until lvl50 and an AF51 suit to spend a lot on a good SC setup...

First of all you need to know the quality of the rmor. The level is in fact a bit insignificant. (A lvl 45 armor, 100% quality has better SC then a lvl 50 armor 94% quality).

Second you need to know what your bonusses are from jewelry (eg rings, bracelets, belts, cloaks, etc)

Third if the armor is for RvR or for PvE.

Forth what your skills/stats curently are.

thanks guys for the info, the robe is a Master Piece, 100% quality, the rest is 99% quality. It will be mainly for RvR, I have a mixed bag of quest/dropped armour of similar quality that works well for PvE, so I'd use that for xp'ing.

I'll go work out my caps and everything else and try and work things out, thanks again :)
