Help Help with a Nexus

My brother has been talking about getting a Nexus tablet and I was thinking of getting him one. Just had a look and I thought Nexus was a brand, now I see different people make a 'Nexus'

Bit confused by it all, I have a iPad so I don't bother looking at other stuff. He has a Galaxy S5 so he knows Android, but it needs to be easy to use, or is Nexus different to Android (see I have not got a clue on this)

Any advice on which one to get, cost is not really an issue, I want a good one that's gonna last

I have the 2013 Nexus 7 (made bu ASUS) which I believe is hard to find now. I think the new generation of Google Nexus devices are manufactured by HTC but it's a GOOGLE device for all intents and purposes.

Nexus is just the model name for the google range of tablets and phones.

I'm still loving my 2013 Nexus 7 well over a year after I got it.

Android 5 (I'm on 5.0.2 if memory serves) has really freshened it up. My iPad 3 is a clunky pile of bollocks in comparison since iOS7.

I like mine so much I bought another one when I cracked the screen. Annoyingly however, the Android 5 update hasn't reached the LTE version yet.

It's super Gaff, much cleaner feel.

Only niggle is the multitasking "cards" thing, needs a tweak.

Its my brother that has got himself a new tablet. My dad struggles to turn his old Nokia 6230 on, let alone know how to use it.

He asked me once if I could sent an email for him as he needed to contact someone and he had to do it that way, the email address he gave me had 3 '@'s in it and just didn't make any sense
