help, voice setup

trying to get voice setup to work, to play halflife.But i keep getting this message,CANT CREATE WAVELN DEVICE (16 BIT SIGNED MONO AT 8K).can anyone help?

You need a full duplex 16 bit soundcard for voice in hl.

Of course I have one of those but it still doesm't work. From what I've heard your'e better off without it
