Hello.
Is there any rangers out there that could give me a few tips/hints. Anything at all?.. I'm going to try a Lurikeen Ranger or Elf Ranger. What would you say is the best race. Or maybe even a celt!. Are they easy to level?.. Because I'm not very good at persisting somthing. Well,....

Thanks in advance!;)

good for a bog standard ranger, bit dated now tbh, but still relevant.

Luir's make good rangers, small, can hide in water, plus high basic dex/quick. Most sniper style rangers are luri's or elves.

Celts are a bit tougher, but not as naturally skilled.

Try looking up ranger guides on www.google.com there are a lot of em to look at, all have different suggestions.

You can make many different styles of ranger. GL.

Take it from me: elves make mediocre rangers. If you want a tough fighting ranger, roll a celt and spec blades. If you want a fast sniper ranger, pick lurikeen.

Understand before you start that rogues (rangers and nightshades in Hibernia) are the worst classes for leveling up. They're not generally welcome in groups because they don't bring anything very useful for fast leveling. This means that most of your exping will be solo which is slow and lonely.

You also need to decide something early on: do you intend to take your ranger all the way to level 50, or do you just want to have some fun in Thidranki, the battleground for levels 20-24? If you are not planning to go to Thidranki, then ignore stealth and put your spec points into bow and pathfinding, to help you be as strong as you can while soloing. If you ARE going to Thidranki you will probably need to put points in stealth, which will mean fewer available for your fighting skills, and will make leveling solo even slower.

I personally don't regret for a moment making my elf ranger - still fun to play after nearly a year. Just know what you're getting into before you start (a long slow haul) and don't moan later that it's too frustrating to go on, because that only makes it worse. Good luck to you!

I'd recommend lurikeen for a ranger.
Most rangers in thidranki seem to spec stealth, however I am at 325 rps and have none at all in stealth, so if you plan to go to 50, as i do, you dont have to spec stealth and can still do extrememly well in thidranki. So, you have that option.
I'm planning on speccing stealth/celtic dual only at the end, keeping bow/pierce/PF as high as possible to make soloing in pve easier, but also so that you can tank at least as well as an ns in groups. I've been able to join and tank very well in groups up to level 24, so it doesn't have to be too much solo ........ well at least not until 40+ ;)
If you go for lurikeen, use pierce. If you do for celt, use blades. If you go for Elf, its probably best to go blades also.
If you have the time and money, I highly recommend taking up the Fletching craft skill. About 500 in fletch will enable you to make the best arrows. You then just have to decide whether you want slash/crush/thrust, depending on the mob you are going for. Also, using 99-100% self crafted bows makes a huge difference in conjunction with your arrows. You can take orange cons down to 50% health with the first hit and 90% of the time dont need to switch to your piercer(s) at all before they drop.
