At the end of the day any disk can have a problem. If the data is irreplaceable maybe consider a small 2 disk NAS? That way you could survive a disk failure. But if it is just a backup of data from your machine you would need to lose your machine to need it anyway.
Another thing if the data is static have you though about cloud based backups?
Seagate's Black Armor line. It uses a Acronis software variant, which is amazing (clone, incremental, diff, full backups, scheduling, etc)
You can create a rescue disk and can restore your PC from any kind of nightmare. I suppose it's more tuned to personal use, as enterprises probably have their own way of backing up your data - but it's oh so amazing. Setup and forget basically.
Agree with Osy, I have a 1TB Black Armor drive at home and they do exactly what they say on the tin. Very reliable and the software is a piece of piss to use
