He needs to know how much money it would cost to fill a bath full of lager so he can cool down from this heatwave in style. So, in the interests of science and alcoholism please help me do the math!

if a bath is 60L and a can is 500ml aka 0.5 liter that would make 30 cans not 80-120

once thats said. I do belive a bath would be more than 60L and thus more than 30 cans and deffo somewhere between 50 and 100, then you need to know his wieght and how much he'll disperce "you cant really fill it to the top" or at elast you dont need to,

30 cans x 0.5 litre each, so 2 cans = 1 litre, so 30 cans = 15 litre...

Just thought I'd point that out :p

Average amount of liquid used in a bath in the UK is 60-70 litre, with showers being 70-80 by all accounts.

a can is not always 500ml though, usually 440ml and can be even a pint (568ml).
you need to factor in displacement of your body too, which is due to the relationship between your surface area and volume, ive used the formula before but i cant find the **** now.

might be cheaper to buy 2 litre bottles of cheap cider?

Wouldn't the better idea be to fill a bath with ice and cold water, and cans of lager, then lay in it and drink?

Not sure the idea of drinking alcohols that has been in contact with my arse and knob appeals tbh.

Dunno if the figures on that website about baths accounted for displacment. Not going to look that far into it unless there is confirmation that there will actually be a bath of lager!

ooh ooh ohh!! I can save you money here!!!

for every beer I drink I piddle out 3 so really if you just buy me enough beer to fill a third of the bath I can do the rest...though it'd be warm so would need to go in the fridge for a bit but still, every penny counts!!

Ez, spending pennys for the nation!

Remember that you "drink" water through your skin, so if you do take a lagerbath, you might have some problems with getting drunk very fast :p

You won't need a fridge either, just fill your mouth with ice first sparx.

I love it when a plan comes together

Do remember, POIDH.

I'm tempted to order a pizza with EVERYTHING on it, everything possible they have. Would cost about five times the normal pie, but bet it would be marvelous.

I think it may well be a LOT more cans than you're thinking of - take this pic of a lads weekend we had a few years back. And there's another layer of cans under the top one. There were more than 80-120 cans in that bath by a mile.

And that isn't me in the picture btw, although it is another FH'r who will remain nameless. ;)

Depends how big his bath is.
Plus there you havent accounted for displacement when he sits in it, so you dont need it full to the brin.
That is also a mix of water and cans, with the metal of the cans taking up more space.

Yeah true, but this by no means a big bath, and I'm sure the Wolfe will want a lounger of a bath :) You ahve a good point on displacement, but I have to say I'm 6'2" and I'd want the bath at least half full and I still wouldn't displace enough to get it even close to the brim (no comments on fatties etc. :p).

The metal displacement surely backs up my argument? You would need more beer to fill it then. That top layer has over 120 cans, so I think many more might be needed.

Where is Brainiac when you need it? Awesome show

Youre right about the metal.
We should also consider than the carbon dioxide will escape from the liquid and decrease the volume.

But you can't really fight with the math, can you?

If it's a 120L one, you'd need 240 500ml cans to fill it completely.

So all we need are dimensions of the bath and voila!

Get to measuring!

Give us a size guide Toht, I hadn't seen one in the thread to date and I'm too lazy to find one!

240 cans sound more like it, now all we need to do is calculate Vodka cost to do it, taking into account evaporation. Now that really does get scientific :)

Ah just need the dimensions. Since the UK use inches(bless) you'll need;

length x width x height to get cubis inches.

Convert it to litres(via gallons or not)

Then multiply by two to convert it to cans.

easier to use cm/m.
turn it into cubic cm/m
turn that in cubic ml/l
