Heya all,

just a quick question for ya :)

i had one of my computers crash yesturday and aparantly loose everything that was stored on the second hard drive (d:), i did a system restore to a few days ago and managed to get MOST of the lost files back but im still missing a couple of folders that i know where there before the crash,

these folders were created before the point i restored from, so its not like system restore has deleted them etc, i think they have just been corrupted from the crash or something ,

what i need to know is how i can get them back, anyone know a good programme that can find and restore corrupt files ?

or have any helpfull ideas at all ?

mucho thanks to any helpfull replys folks, would be nice to get these folders back as they contain work stuff

oh and before some smartarse says why didnt i back them up to CD or something, the approx size of the missing folders is 40-50 Gb Mkay :D

Lets dispell a few myths:

1. Stuff deleted from the Recycle Bin can't be retrieved. WRONG

2. I've used a commercial program to triple encrypt then ghost wipe data from my drive. Its gone for good. WRONG AGAIN !

3. I've reformatted my hard drive. All my data's gone. SORRY, WRONG AGAIN !

4. My hard drive crashed. My hard drive broke. I'm stuffed ! NO YOUR NOT !

Pretty much only an electrical failure / surge, or irreperable physical board damage will permanently destroy data.

If you're in the first 4 categories your data can be retrieved. Go to an expert.

i know how stressed you must feel. happened to my mum a while back and most of that stress got passed onto me.
hers was on a disk and we used badcopy pro to get it back. i don't know what to use for a hard disk but i'd cry my eyes out if i lost all my work. i've backed it up in 3 places so hopefully it won't happen :p

I lost 70gb of porn last year when a drive went tit's up. Managed to get it all back using Ontrack EasyRecovery software, not sure how much it costs but you could always *source* a copy ;)

Tuneup utils work. do a google and use the trial version.
When my son goes on and looks at sites he should'nt (before any wisecracks he is 12 and has his own login with filters etc) I just use the undelete option. dunno if this is what ur looking for exactly but its a great piece of kit for getting shot of the crappy login screens etc.
