AMD ships it's new "budget" chip, the Sempron, today says (amongst others) la reg.

I'm personally glad, as getting my gf a shuttle with a $39 cpu is a nice thought to tight barstand me

And in the related article they perform just as well as the Athlon XP. With a budget range in place I wonder if there will be a price hike in the state-of-the-art lines to establish the two different ranges.

I read a BBC article yesterday threatening that Moore's Law may slow down, perhaps this is evidence that Moore's Second Law is beginning to have an impact. Maybe silicon chips have only limited time left in the spotlight. I dunno
