Looks bloody awesome mate, would love to go over there for a bit of sight seeing visit the shrine to the English Samurai, and Rikugien gardens, but from what I've heard food and drink is pretty pricey so its unlikely I can afford that on top of the crazy flight and accomodation prices I've seen on expedia. How did you find it, plus any advice for overs thinking of heading over there?

Edit: just thought of another question how was public public transport, they have english time tables available?

Yeah it could be pricey. Food/drink is around the same as london but transport is dirt cheap.

They have english time tables - not that you will need them. I don't remember ever waiting more than a minute for a train - maybe I was lucky, but everything is so prompt and frequent. There is a good tourist info desk in the west entrance of Shinjuku station that is very helpful with booking things if you are not sure on how to do it.

The best advise I can give it to stick to the Yamanote train line for a few days until you get used to the system and the crowds. The Yamanote line will take you to a lot of places you would want to go to anyway.

Also don't be afraid to ask random people questions. I found most people had very good english skills and enjoyed the chance to use them so were very helpful.

I wouldn't do it right away because you won't be sued to the crowds but hiring a bike for the day from my hotel was cool.

Edit: Also try and get the limousine bus from the airport. It's quicker and cheaper than the train and stops off at quite a few hotels.
