Anyone except me thinks it looks like Diablo 3 in a more modern age theme? :p

I love it even though some extreme meanie has already taken "Amanita" on both the EU and US servers.

*sigh*
Oh well, I rest my case.

Nothing against you Mikah. But if game designers can produce a game like this and still get this kind of response, the gamers all over the world are doomed.

I got bored at around level 5 or so but played until 10, at which point I couldn't take it anymore.

It does seem to be a love/hate thing this Hellgate. I've read on a few forums people are either really loving it, or go off it very very quickly, doesnt seem to be any middle ground

Yeah, it's a real Dr Pepper of gaming.

Some love it and call anyone who doesn't, a moron or some other equally witty thing.
Some hate it and call anyone liking it a "noob of gaming 'cause i aer expert and leet!"

Even if it's not "sh*t hot", it's still the best and only option for hack'n'slash action around.

It's diablo.
It's a cool world(read diablo :D)
It's a blatant ripoff FROM diablo.
It's diablo with GUNS.
Like in diablo, you can use less then 5% of your brainpower to play it.(not counting character advancement and such portions) Which is a problem with most games today. No brainless action.

I love it :D

They had me at the demo with a boy named wart and his lost leg :worthy:

Yup.

And you can modify guns/weapons.
You have two hands that you can use(plus other skills) with two mousebuttons(verra cool).
You have green/blue/other named items.
There's a skilltree type advancement in each level.
There's skeletons and jumping four legged beasts(etc)

Sound familiar? :D

i read that the guns feel sort of like a water hose, no like, power or energy behind them i guess. is that true?

Well they lack a certain "oompf", but then again, that sort of movie style oompf is a taste thing if ou want or not.

I like the, comic style ratatat that they have.

And i felt it was "manly" enough to run with two 1h machine guns :D

To me, playing the demo was like, playing the demo to diablo 1 all over. Over, and over, and over. Just couldn't get enough.

Except, you can play this as a FPS, third person, zoom even way back for a more "diablo"ish look and it's just...weird. RPG-FPS-hack'n'slash.

Only negative side is that(i think) there is a monthly cost to it, like in normal MMOs, and i don't think it's wroth THAT much.

If it had the battlenet style free gaming(which i think they'll have to go to), then it's a "must buy".

I've been playing it the last few days, between trying to learn myself to model in 3ds max and swearing at Oblivions construction set for refusing to accept my collision.

I got kind of bored around level 12 however, it might just be the class I was playing(Blademaster) but I expected abit more RPG from it tbh, it all just seems to be get this mission and kill something random for the heck of it and even Diablo had more story then that :<

Ah ok, thanks for the info on the payment.

Then it's golden :D

Yeah, i've noticed a lack of brainless games around these days. Even the likes of WOW(might be the least "think" game of MMOs), needs calculations and this and that and some brainwork to operate.

This game? It's the good old fashioned diablo style, waste a good sunday on killing things and picking up lootz

How do I get a copy of the game? Is it free?

nah, need to buy the retail in the game store (the CD key you get is for activation and online game play). not sure how it would work if you downloaded it and get a key gen of some kind.

but why do i keep getting the "cant connect to server" when i try to go online? so far i got a lvl 16 blademaster on single player. i want to test the multiplayer part ;p

think i need to do some firewall checking :kissit:

Yeah it's the same thing as in diablo, should warn about it really, the solo game chars don't follow 'cause it's too easy to "modify" and cheat with them. So they store all online chars, online and all offline chars, on your computer.

AMkes sense really as then you don't need a net for solo, and solo chars can't go online and can't be, as such, be modified.

yea, was kinda off when diablo 2 first went online, and you could copy your solo charrs into the online part, remember a shit load of people running outside Rouge Encampment 1 shotting everyone. since they did so much dmg with their modified stuff. no one survived more then 1 perhaps 2 shots :p

(damn, i was at lvl 16 on my blade master. now im back on a new lvl 9 marksman ;P).

but since this is the 3rd charr around lvl 8-9, i basically know all the quests and stuff by memory. goes faster now. and i got a much better gun (some kinda Tesla gun) then in the solo world

EDIT: also got a burning skull for helm. how cool is that :D

Diablo2 >> Hellgate tbh.

Find the original demo of diablo 2, or the original unpatched version of Diablo 2, and you'll see the similarity.

Hellgate might go places, if the attention spawn disorderly and the "elitist f*ck" gamers give it a chance.

But at the same time, they want something new and cry about everything being an EA franchise copy, they tell every game like this it's crap.
