I saw it about 1 week ago at a preview showing, was 'ok' and the group of us that went all thought it was average. Its graphically very nice and there is again lots to see, but the storyline is moving too quickly with lots of holes in the script.
Having seen Batman not long ago, perhaps if I watch Hellboy in 2-3 months time I might see what its like again, but right now don't go to the Cinema to see it, its just about worth a rental.
I liked the first one a lot, and heard mostly good things about the second. It looks like a bit of harmless action fun. I wouldnt go and see hellboy 2 for the amazing epic saga and timeless classic script, just for an hour and a half of cool graphics, shit-kicking and stuff like that.
I knew it was going to be shit the first one, when it starts out as Hitler's private undead assasin made of sand... is opening up a demonic portal in... oh yes, Scotland.
i'll watch it when it comes out on dvd (free rentals 4tw!!11)
has anyone seen or know if the movie journey to the centre of the earth with brendan frasier is out yet, i thought it was supposed to be out in july and only ever saw like one ad for it, considering it looked like a big budget action movie i thought that was a bit unusual.
we watched "An Inspector Calls" the other day (you know the old black and white one with alistair sim?) bloody great film, no "big budget" or special effects just a good storyline and a rather wicked little nip in the tail, I have to say I actually enjoyed that film more than a lot of these so called modern day blockbusters (indiana jones 4 anyone?)
there were no explosions no blood and guts no sex no swearing nothing that film makers rely upon so heavily now to fool audiences in to not noticing there actually is no story line and the actors cant actually act.
I like explosions and special effects as much as the next guy but sometimes its so nice to watch a film that isn't predictable or just made to make money.
Journey to the Centre of the Earth came out ages ago, however it was mainly aimed at 3D cinema's (as it was a 3D live action film), and so didn't do a huge thing with normal, 2D cinema's.
As for HB2, I really liked it, I thought it was even better than the first one, and I almost never say that about a sequel, I really like the director's stuff, I'm becoming a bit fan of him.
