Heh.. 180 remakes and counting..

Anyone EVER had this much bad luck on an expensive item?

Been sat in the alb SI crafting town for 6 hours yesterday, and 4 hours today, have burnt 11 plat for a guildie on AF 102 plate legs and STILL no masterpiece after 180, yep, 180 remakes :/

Tesla spent 155 retries on my MP staff, 4p or something it was. Tough luck but it does happen...

Gotta say, the worst run I've ever had making an MP is only around 80 makes. And I was disappointed with that.

most tries I ever did was around 90 for a af51 cloth vest, price in no way compares to 11p tho, ul, keep trying you'll get in eventually

Used 200+ on sleeves and 300+ on boots on MP cloth set once lately. On same set !
And I use fixed prices... not based on retries

As i said my mp chain set was 24p without hauberk 3 peices were over 100.... sleeves were 134 i think dam mp's becoming a joke to get now.

ive made 165 af 102 studded coifs, so far, no mp, ever, never, not in this lifetime...

stopped taking orders on mp coifs

If im not mistaken she sold it to a merchant by accident just after she made it!

Hence the reason I avoid crafting MP suits and try to avoid doing MP pieces, and would always ask for money upfront

Actually its probably the same reason I try to avoid crafting all together, mugs game

While make a MP Plate set for a guildie I was doing well, making MP sleeves in 1 make and gloves in 3 makes but then I hit a huge brick wall when it came to the Helm and 80+ remakes later and 5P+ I managed to make one while going LD.

Now all i gotta do is go LD more often when I am crafting

My own MP pants took me about 450 remakes....

Yesterday I did 445 remakes on gloves+boots (that is, 445 remakes to do 2 MPs).

Fortunately it wasn't a robe

Its a pain in the arse making weapons when you knock up a blade or a hilt and it screams MASTERPIECE at you, and then you put the whole caboodle together, and you have a 96% finished product

Cili finished burning more than 3 plat yesterday trying to make a MP Leather Jerkin

I did not count, it must have been in excess of 80 attempts in all. Just yesterday, in about 12 tries, I came up with 5 99% quality (which no-one wants) but no MP.

Now I'm skint and can't pay for the imbuing of the rest. I'm seriously thinking of giving up, but it's as Gorthon says: " The next try, just one more, it'll do it".

Parallel to that, of course, yesterda I made 2 MP Boot lining for Nydoi. Rats !

To make an MP there is an 2% Chance?
This gives us 95% chance of making MP in 150 retries.

No manufacturing company would ever use fixed prices on products that have a scrap rate of 98% and is produced in small series.. if you are going to use fixed prices use price for 150 retries and refund 90-50% of the leftovers and you can take an ~180remake without loosing loads of money.

That is not correct, dJyng.

2% chance a try a try is not 95% chance in 150 retries as far as I understand it.

Each time you start a craft, the statistics are reset. You have 2% chance of a MP on the first try, and 2% on the 10th, etc.

I don't think your chances increase of making a masterpiece as you try longer. You simply keep trying until you get lucky, the chances of your success remain exactly the same: 2%.

In other words, you are saying that my chances of winning the lottery increase the longer I play. This is not true, as each draw is brand new and not connected to the one before. Each time I play, I have exactly as many chances to win as the time before (not many).

It does seem to come in streaks, though.

Yesterday, I crafted an af90 set for Zharr and made three masterpeices in a row (boots, gloves, helm).

I then sold masterpeice studded boots and gloves (studded, af102) and while talking to someone else who had just missed out on the gloves, happened to make another one. Sold the three of them for roughly 1.5p, and remade a masterpeice studded glove, boot and helmet with about 200gp left.

Then I started working on Krill's af102 hauberk, 3 99's out of 9 tries but no masterpeice. Then Fafnir's boots...25 tries, two 99's and the rest were either 94 or 95... (sorry, Fafnir)

I get days like that quite a lot, should learn to craft other af102 orders first.

Assuming: Each time you start a craft, the statistics are reset. You have 2% chance of a MP on the first try, and 2% on the 10th, etc.

Results in:
I'll make 150 attempts and my chances of making one or more MP's is 95%. (100% minus the probabillity to fail 150 times in a row: 1-0.98^150 = 95%)

Used 77 attempts for making a MP towershield btw. Cheap stuff.
