You need to drive down to Bognor Regis, and go to Turner's bakery, and they do THE BEST mince pies in the world there.

I bought some Mr Kipling mince pies, and I'm steeped in disappointment. Too much dry, crumbly pastry and not enough mince.

Mince pies are sexual.

True fact - I used to be a puff pastry maker and I was the best in the land, its a very skilled job.

I tried tesco, sainsburys and mr Kipling. Kiplings are the worst, too crumbly. Sainsburys are too crunchy, Tesco is the winner!

I only bought standard Tesco, why are their finest twice the price? Surely 12 pies are always going to better than 6?

Mmmm, I like Mr Kipling. Warmed in the oven and drowned in cream. Yummy!

My mates dad was a foreman at Mr Kiplings, he said they quite often put bogeys in their mince pies and if some ingredients fell on the floor they would always kick them about a bit before chucking them back in the mix.

not as vile as a parma I'm guessing, but that's purely on looks, as I've had mince pies but not a parma (yet).

now a true gift of the gods is a proper christmas pudding, the brandy, swearing, fights breaking out, fires everywhere.....ah, so good :)

I don't know what that stuff is in that pic tbh. o0

however, there is a traditional dish called "hutspot", which is basically potatos, carrots and onions mashed together in a 2:1:1 mix. The idea is to get a rough mash that iirc resembles Scots "neeps and tatties" in colouring. It's one of the "cold weather" dishes, and you eat it with pork or sausages and gravy.

Most of the Dutch "cold weather" dishes are like it; potatos+<green things> mashed together, aka "stampot", eaten with rich gravy, and fatty meats, or slow cooked beefs. The idea being, in the past ofc, that the farmers had to be able to keep going on the land in all weather types and temperatures.

no, that's perfectly normal :) in fact, imo PB and cherry jam is the shining light of truth and justice, as well as being great on all sorts of bread! Vae's just jealous of your secret bread-cravings ;)

Cheese and jam seems questionable, mind there is a lot of those cheese/fruit fusions coming out the woodwork which I personally wouldn't touch with a barge pole, savoury cheese ftw.

Penut butter and jam is awesome though.

I also made quite a nice sarnie the other night which was penut butter and crushed up orange club biscuit - It was teh yum.
