Headlights

Hey there peeps,

Basically I was wondering if it's illegal for me to have orange lights in my fog lamps. Think of a Toyota Corola with the way the lights are set out. I've got my headlights (which are normall lights) and then two small fog lights in the middle of them two, heres what I mean.



I don't have to have them on at the same time but I was thinking if I would get told off for it !

Well, if i were you i'd be highly tempted to put little eyes in there and then have a switch so if some pedestrian looks as if theyre going to wander out infront of you the eyes go all slanty and mean as if the car is suddenly possesed by a demonic entity and will leap foward and run them over at any second, grinding their lifeless body in to the asphalt until its nothing but a gorey paste of blood and bone and gut powder with a scream of avenging rubber and blue black smoke....

on second though the pedestrians around here never even look up at the cars they walk infront of so the cool effect would be wasted , i think they believe that "If i dont look at it, it cant hurt me" teh foo's everyone knows thats a medusa not a car

yellow tint is just about legal, orange is same as indicators, therefore not legal, as it could present confusion. last i checked that was the way of it, but i don't really keep tabs on it, as i just stick the standard bulbs in. they work, so why bother with anything else?

Most likely it's highly illegal to turn your foglights on if visibility > 50m orso, cos they're blinding as hell and you can cause an accident that way.

So just put in the regular lamps, and keep the foglights off if there's no fog to light.

afaik cant use orange, as it looks like your indicators. I know they wont be flashing but i dont make the rules

the question still reamins - why the fuck would you even want orange lights? orange hasnt got the best wave length so its not exactly going to light up the route is it?

In Japan the sidelights of a car (ie the indecators) are lit up and flash when indecating. My mate has the same and no police has pulled him over. It's not ilegal to have permenant orange lights on ? Or is it just in the fog lamps?

as alrdy stated, its illegal because of the possible confusion with indicators.

just as its illegal to have indicators that aint orange (some people feel the need to have green tinted etc to match their desperate green novas/golfs).

HOWEVER its pretty much down to the local police as to if they inforce it, round my area they generally dont, but my bro-in-law (with aforementioned green tinted indicators) got pulled over numerous times up in leichester area for it.

As I said before, anything other than the standard headlight is illegal, even those slightly blueish tinged ones. Why waste your cash getting em only be pulled over by the old bill and be spot fined more cash, then have to pay even more cash putting them back to how they used to look.

And tbh as someone said earlier, orange headlights, sorry mate, im a bit of a petrohead and i love motors and modding, but orange head lamps..... sorry but imo that will look shit.

Yeh thanks I got the bit that there illegal. Anyway, the reason behind this is because I was wanting my sidelights to come up orange, as they do in Jap. But i stuck them in my fogies instead. There out now and I agree it did look shit but was just for a laugh !

Anyway thats for the input guys.

And Lannovar what car you got if you don't mind me asking ? ;o
