My 24" Samsung T240 is full 1080p and it was £250

There is also no point having 1080p unless you have at least a 37" tv. You will not notice the difference between 720 and 1080 at smaller screen sizes, no matter viewing distances.

I have a 24" monitor, and have for 5 years now, it does 1080, it's great as a monitor, great for pc games, but I hated playing consoles games and watching anything on it.

I'm sure your monitor is great, but you should always get the biggest TV you can afford and will fit in the space -no point pimping it to laddey if he can afford bigger and has the space for bigger.

BTW what is your viewing distance?

My old TV was 720 and its 24" i can guarantee you can see a massive massive difference between the two, i've sat them side by side and done a whole night of testing using my xbox on VGA, HDMI, blu ray player, my HD player and upscalling DVDs. The samsung beat it every time. So my friend you are talking out your rusty badge x :wub:

I looked at 32" and above but for the distance i sit on my couch from the TV it was pointless to go any bigger, you need to take into consideration how far away you sit. No point having a 40" if you are sitting 3 feet from it

10cm per 1" is the rule of thumb i think And of course down to personal preference

Sony have the best screens if you are willing to pay alot more
Samsungs are probably the most cost effective

bear i mind though if you plan on watching alot of normal standard def tv then LCD tv's are a pale comparison to plasma's
Panasonics are the best value, Pioneer's the best quality if you are willing to pay over the odds

Don't bother with 1080p (full hd) on a 30" set, the screen is too small to make much of a visual difference (i would go as far as to say that 40" is the minimum size to even consider 1080p and even then it depends on viewing distance)
