Don't get anything less than 32" for a hdtv, it's fine to have smaller for a dual monitor/tv combo, but you really want to be playing console games and watching stuff on a big a screen as possible. Remember he can watch blu-rays with the ps3.

laddey: budget? what model 360 do you have, does it have a hdmi output?

not true it all depends on how far you sit from the TV. 24" is perfect for me

Perfect as a computer screen you mean? 38 - 42 inch is the way to go if you want to kick back and relax in the sofa while watching.

i hope not

Haha

If I didn't see that it was a 108" tv, I would have thought she was a midget.

Sony Bravias are pretty decent laddey, my 'rents have got one as well as my fiances 'rent's and in HD it looks the absolute nuts.

£350 immediately rules out FullHD or 1080p sets. They start at about £400.

So now we know that you're looking for a HDready set, you said around 30" in size? My suggestion would be this one:

Buy TOSHIBA 32AV555DB | Digital 32" hd ready lcd tv - Televisions | Comet
£349.99

Here's a review of it:
http://www.trustedreviews.com/tvs/review/2008/12/17/Toshiba-32AV555DB-32in-LCD-TV/p1

It's not only a "brand" name, it also has some technical features that many other similar price models don't have. I have a 42" premium version of a Toshiba Regza TV and would recommend Toshiba TVs to anyone. The key thing is to setup the colour, brightness and contrast to the best balance for your room and lighting. That goes for any TV you buy... they are generally setup for showroom lighting and the colour balance is completely wrong for a living room.

It comes with 1 yr warranty, but I'd pay up the £95 to extend that to 3 years... unless you have a home insurance policy that covers that sort of thing.

Have a look at richer-sounds, they have lots of lcd tv offers right now. You can get a very good 720p 32" (and 720 is all you need at that size) for £300. If you push the boat out to £400, then you could get a nice 37". A wall bracket will set you back between £50-£150.

I got my 37" HD for £300 from bigpockets. Some brand i've never heard of, but no complaints so far.

Vistron DB32-SD 32" HD Ready TV Digital Freeview 1366x768 1500:1 500cd/m2 8ms 16:9 HDMI/VGA Gloss Black **Samsung Panel** - Ebuyer only 275, cheaper ones at same site

got an older model of this in my living room i think (not sure its just plain black with no logo or anything, looks nice) and its works fine.

Got another in my room which is a random brand i'd never heard of and its been fine since i bought out over a year ago.

Got a third 32 incher in the house which cost about twice as much because it's from Sony and i never noticed the difference in picture quality when they were side by side playing 2xsplit screen cod5 zombies :D Much nicer looking tv though

I looked at 32" and above but for the distance i sit on my couch from the TV it was pointless to go any bigger, you need to take into consideration how far away you sit. No point having a 40" if you are sitting 3 feet from it
