I have one myself.. only 20GB one though. From time to time, my machine will just freeze and I have to reboot it.. could it be cos of probs with the hdd? All my other hw seems to be working fine though.

I bought one about 6 months ago because i thought ibm hd's were renouned for being well made (apart from the 75gxp with the glass platters?)

Guess i'd better me more thorough with backing up :(

It gets weirder :/

I just tried booting my main PC again and this time it made some terrible noises then detected the HD and booted. I tried it four times in a row earlier and it would not detect it.

After that I ran the XP drive error checking tool on it (without any of the tickboxes checked) and agout about a fifth of the way through and made the same crunch-beep-cruch-beep noises for a few seconds then continued. It didn't report anything though. Should I ask it to do a scandisk next boot or what ? :/

help0r !

FREAKY. It's actually working fine again atm :/

To be honest I only really have some games on this PC and the game saves aren't that important. All the rest is still on my 2nd PC, emails, mp3s etc... Might as well use this one tonight and not worry too much. I'll just send it back when I get the chance.
