I generally consider myself to be a good person, i mean im not overtly evil and i generally do keep my psychopathic tendancies under control so by this token i think i am fairly good.
When I see a homeless person I usually give them money if i have it or if they are selling the big issue (which i detest) i will buy them a coffee if its cold or a soda if its hot because i always think hay that could be me... it actually may have i was homeless for a few weeks when i was a teenager so I do have empathy for them.
However, something which has lessened my desire to help them came to my attention yesterday. My boyfriend (the long suffering but eternally lucky B2) has been telling me for the past few months about a group of homeless guys who use the car park at his work to sleep in (ok well they gotta sleep somewhere..) then cars started getting trashed and they leave their *crap* laying about, even though there are bins they dont clean up after themselves...
well (I though) maybe they have lost some of their social conscious after all they have been having a rough time but yesterday at work they found that these charming men (junkies btw) decided to play a trick on the guys who work there and right next to the designated smoking area in the wall they jammed a used needle pointy end face out in to the morter, this was obviously a malicious act if they really didnt care they would have just dropped it but to leave it where it would most likely injure someone i think is disgusting.
Tbh I don't think I shall be giving money or drinks to homeless people any more, I know yu shouldnt tar everyone with the same brush but I'm buggered if I'm going to help people with that mentality.
Lesson: dont shit on your own doorstep you screw things up for everyone.
