Well deserved red card. :england:

Actually, it's :

Just plain wrong = don't know shit about football.

Regardless of whether you think him treading on Carvalho's nuts is a red, the fact is he only went for the card AFTER Ronaldo got involved. That's the bottom line of it and that's why it's unacceptable. It's really pretty simple but like I said it's symptomatic of this World Cup. Figo nuts a player which the ref has his back to and gets a yellow which FIFA let stand. Rooney treads on Carvalho's nuts, the ref is 3 yards away and is going to just give a freekick - Ronaldo runs in and it becomes a red...and FIFA are now going to investigate. It's seriously f*cked up.

Prior to the Portugal game German police actually stated that England fans had been the best behaved of the tournament :p

No need to hush it up.. everyone was released without charge. Nothing major in it and it was discribed as "Typical after match event" that German police deal with after most league games. They rather play it safe then to be sorry. And i dont blame them.

Actually it was widely reported. Along with the statement from the German police that it was a relatively minor incident centred around 1 particular bar and no different from a standard Bundesliga game. Plus it's 100 arrests (all released without charge) out of an English contingent of 70,000 people in the city that night.

Edit: Corran beat me to it :D

Pushing another player like he did, and he prolly said something retarded aswell + the kick in the nuts should result in a red card. There is just no other way around it, I personally doubt it was cause Ronaldo ran up and asked for a red card that Rooney got sent off. Even if it looks like that in your eyes, it doesn't in mine.
Well I guess we have to wait for the FIFA report if they are to investigate it as you said, before we find out the truth of it all.
Just think all this hate vs Ronaldo is really childish, and no I'm not a big fan of him myself but jesus.
And what team, seriously, wouldn't run up to the ref when one of your teammates gets a kick in the nuts like that? I doubt even England would just stand calmly next to him and whistle.

I have said it once, so I will say it again: Argentinian referee in an England game is just retarded.

FIFA are investigating with a view to taking further action against Rooney. Compare that to the Figo situation. That's why it's f*cked up and another example of FIFA ruining the game.

As for doubting that the red came as a result of Ronaldo's intervention watch the video again. Watch the referee. Watch Ronaldo's intervention. Watch how the referee reacts. Watch how Ronaldo's head goes down and then he comes up winking to his bench. Remember that Ronaldo said to Rooney before the game he would get him sent off. Then tell me it's only in my eyes that the ref changed his mind. I don't blame Ronaldo for England going out. I do say that his actions resulted in the ref giving a red card to Rooney, a team mate of his. Would England players do the same? Who knows, maybe they would. But they didn't.

As for the hatred of Ronaldo you have to remember that this is the latest in a long line of incidents. I've seen him play live a couple of times and I can tell you this is just one of many occasions like this. I've seen him sent off at Villa Park 2 seasons ago and even back then the hatred that people felt towards him and how he plays the game was intense. Football is a passionate game evoking strong emotions - and I've rarely seen a player generate such hatred over such a short period of time than Ronaldo has since he made his Premiership debut.

llet's face it we are out because we missed 3 penalties. But Ronaldo did the unforgivable - he blatantly tried to get a teammate sent off. For that he deserves everything he gets when he comes back to England.

During the World Cup it's his national team which matters, not his club back in England.

And why the hell can't you just let it go?

The only reason people seem to "be against you" and have something against England atm is that you're to sore and tell people they don't know jack shit about football if they don't agree with you.

It's the first time I've ever encountered people flaming you just cause you don't agree with them in a football match.

Let people have their opinion and try not to flame them when they don't share yours.

Just think it´s funny that the english always blame either the coach, the ref or some player in the other team. It´s never their own players that suck :p

Most players in the English squad is capable of performing at that level.

They got some of the best players (like Gerrard), so it's not their own players that suck, And they did have a faulty coach (imo as he brought Walcott instead of Defoe).

On that Real Football Factories it said that most violence involving ingland in the last 10 years was another team trying to start on England because they have a big rep, it seems the trouble makers have been missing for a while now not that the press can admit that.

Brazil also have some of the best players in the world. Doesn´t do much if they don´t perform.

Not S-G fault Rooney gets the red card. Not S-G fault they miss 3 penalties etc etc.

That's right, because it's only the English who are flaming - everyone else is just expressing their opinions... And when people are just plain wrong (or are just blindly taking the anti-English stanpoint) then yes, I will draw the conclusion they don't know what they are talking about. Besides, I get flamed plenty when discussing DAOC by many of the posters who are now demonstrating their ignorance of football. I'm hardly going to let that go am I ? ;)

Which part of "we're out because we missed 3 penalties" is not criticising our own players?

End of the day, the ref had given a free kick, he didnt even book Rooney. Then Ronaldo gets involved and whammo, red card for the wonderkid rooney. If you watch the video, Rooney was fouled 3 or 4 times prior to the stamp, but why didnt the Argentinian ref give a free kick? Id like to say the better team won, but they didnt so I wont.

Maybe its time for us English to change our mentality and start cheating?

Spot on. And yes, it seems cheating is the way to go. I hope next time Rooney is sandwiched by 2 players he goes down clutching his face, rolls over 6 times and the rest of the England team surround the ref waving their hands in his face. That would apparently be perfectly acceptable.

First of all, this has nothing to do with DAoC so that comparison is no point in using.

Second, I think that Rooney did deserve the red card, so that must make me a person who doesn't understand football then?

I'd say that makes me a man who doesn't understand YOUR point of view.

Like I've said before, I don't have anything against the English, but the behaviour of some on this board is getting out of control and is turning out to be rather childish.

Bracken is right though. A lot of the world cup bandwagoners are showing their ignorance on the matter. Look at the facts

1. Ronaldo headbutts Rooney before the game to wind him up.

2. The ref ignored the 3-4 fouls commited on rooney in the tangle. Rooneys only crime was not to go down like he had been shot. He instead chose to carry on playing football. Watch the video on youtube and tell me Rooney wasnt fouled.

3. After the "stamp" (ive seen worse in playground football) the ref just blew for a freekick. If he was going to brandish a card it would of been done straight away. He stood next to rooney for a good few seconds, his arm pointed out which indicated a direct free kick.

4. Faggot boy sprints upto the ref, telling him how to do his job. FIFA have said that if this happens in the world cup, its a yellow card. No ifs or buts. The yellow card should have been shown to Ronaldo straight away.

5. Rooney pushes Ronaldo. If you were in Rooneys shoes I dare say you would do the same. This is the point at which the red card is issued. How can the ref say he issued the red card for the stamp when it happened at least 10 seconds before? This leads me to believe he brandished it for the push. He knows himself that to red card someone for a push, in such a high pressure match is just laughable so he says it was for the stamp.

Yes, in the end england lost because Portugals penalty takers were more competent than the English, but its a bitter pill to swallow that we had to play 60 minutes with only 10 men due to something that FIFA said they were stamping (no pun intended) out.

I agree to some of those points, but wishing Ronaldo would die is childish, even the name calling is rather childish.

And the headbut you mentioned might have been just a friendly thing since Rooney didn't react to it.

No I said they don't know what they are talking about. That's not flaming, that's my considered and humble opinion ;)

The anti-English comments are those who have come on gloating specifically because England lost and saying we're exclusively hooligans - which is not particularly about views on Ronaldo is it?

I've not said anything about Ronaldo should die and neither has anyone else afaik. I've said I hope Rooney twats him on the training ground. Big difference.
