doing my bibliography for a presentation and handouts on Nietzsche for uni and i got the idea of using it but how do you write it if its a translation and then later published
e.g.

Freidrich Nietzsche
On the Genealogy of Morality
translated by Maudemarie Clark
published 1988
cambridge, Hackett Publishing Company Inc

anyone know how to write that pls?

it doesnt actually have it there, its a republication and translation that was done 100 yrs later

It's usual to use the English language date but not to include the translator. It is also possible to include (originally published 1952) (or whatever) after the Author (date) in bibliography.

Eg.

Nietzsche, F. (1988) (originally published 1887) On the Genealogy of Morality Cambridge: Hackett Publishing Company Inc

If there is a controversy surrounding a translation then the translator might tbe important but it isn't usually.
