Hang on a minute.
As much as I have sympathy for the pizza guy and his family, lets not forget that there is a war in Iraq where people working for NATO as well as British and American soldiers, are being killed on a daily basis by the Iraq's they came to "liberate".

Just because this happened to be in an street in a civilised town, dosnt make it any worse than whats happening over there.

:(

True, but we can only gauge reaction and discuss on things we hear and have information about to hand - yes it's happening, but where's the reports on it all now?

Gone, along with the "end" of the conflict...

Yes but thats not the topic of this thread.

There has been talk of the Iraq war in other threads. If you want to express your views on the war post them there. :p

I personally don't see how compassion for one man's situation automatically negates compassion for anothers. I don't want to have a place a rider at the end of everything I post.

Hey, anyone tried the new biscuit Milky Way yet?

N.B. PEOPLE ARE STARVING IN AFRICA.

Besides, tragedy is all in the details. A nameless man dying in a carbomb is sad. A person whose history you know is sadder. A person you you see dragged desperately begging for help to his fate is sadder still. It's not a moral scale of value of life, it's just the way emotions work.

I'm sorry, but what does this have to do with the pizza guy?

Yes people are getting killed in Iraq - people are still getting killed in Israel and Palestine, people are still being killed in Afghanistan, thousands have died in the recent civil wars raging across Africa - this thread was about the circumstances in which a poor innocent pizza bloke died, in what only can be described in a brutal and horrific way.

Just because no-one happens to mention that there are people dying right across the globe does not mean that 1. we have forgotten or 2. that it belongs in this thread.

But to keep you happy lets take the thread off-topic and start talking about the recent killings of American soldiers in Afghanistan. What a bitch eh?

that's not what I was thinking matey. more along the lines of "what depraved animal would do this to some passing unsuspecting bloke"

I don't give a toss how creative / finely manufactured / well crafted that collar was :(

If you look closely at the moment it goes off in that news reel it looks like they've zoomed in on the pic and shunted the view off to the side in order to cut out the actual explosion but show the reaction of the police. That is most definitely harsh.

I found an uncut version, I wont post it here because its most grim, and i'll probably get banned!

heh

I had the 'pleasure' of a mate sending me a lot of pics like that, and like a mug I viewed em all :)

Car crashes, suicides, murders, train 'accidents' - the whole shabang. Not pleasent at all. They certainly gave me a new look on life, and a new respect for the emergancy services who have to see stuff like that quite a lot.

Yeah but look at it this way, if you did have to deal with something like that, like having to act quickly in a very messy situation. You might be a little more desensitised to it and act with a clearer head .. rather then standing in the corner throwing up while someone bleeds to death ..

Well thats my excuse, or maybe i'm just sick ;)

hehe

I'm sure once you've seen it oftern enough it does just become 'part of the job'. Just that initial 'ewww' stage. After seeing the 7th person with their head removed from a shotgun, I suppose I was more at 'ease' with the pictures.

'It's going to go off, I'm not lying'

Holy shit that guy must've been scared. Knowing that your death could just come at any moment, gotta be the worst feeling of 'em all.

I suppose in some ways knowing you're going to die like that is 'better' than say having a long and painful death from cancer or something similar. At least you know when you do go, it's going to be instant and probably painless.

Perhaps I'm just being cynical?

Sorry to question you Cdr... but if he was using it as a "i can put this thing round my neck and get away with robbery".... why on earth would he make it actually work?... surely it'd be better to make it look like a bomb.. a bomb with a malfunction... then he'd get away with his head in one piece and the police would call it "Ooh a miracle!"

As someone who's seen more mangled bodies than I care to remember, I can assure you one never get's used to it.

You may be able to harden yourself at the moment you see the remains of some poor sod, but the images are there for you to remember forever.

I seriously doubt that looking at pictures of people getting killed will help you at all if you find yourself in a situation where you see a real person torn apart.

Let's just admit that it's voyeurism and titillation that makes people want to see pictures of other dead humans.

True, and curiosity I guess, its weird how many people would slow down on a motorway to have a gander at a passing car wreck on the side of the road. Yet you send them a picture of something grim over the net and they call you a sick bastard...

Hypocracy tbh

I understand that morbid curiosity makes people look at car crashes and the like, but bear in mind that they didn't ask for the accident to happen just so they could look.

Asking for pictures of dead/dying people is sick tbh.

Although he cant read this which I'm glad of, krypt has a habbit of writing something, which pisses people of then claims its a joke.

Its a shame we all cant use this tactic to get out of certain stuff we've said.
