Well I am upgrading my comp, and I was wondring if anyone if you knew if a
5 year old 13gb hard disk would hold a new comp back?

Would it effect my preformance in a negative way? If so how and how bad?

Would programs load slower? Would I have trouble loading zones in DAoC?

I realy dont want to buy a new one if I can mannage with thisone :)
Thanks for any advice.

Get a new HD. New motherboards have faster IDE interfaces and old drives are a complete bottleneck. Trust me on this.

hmm k,
:eek7:

/em
Types search google 2.5" IDE

*bleep, bleep*

http://www.m-sys.com/japan/ffdide.asp

hehe,
Well I found some other stuff and I think I figgured it out...
*SCSI is too expencive
*the 2,5" IDE seemed to be some portable thingy
*the 3,5 ATA sounded too fancy with some talk about windows OS, <-- cant be good
*the 3,5" IDE looks like its the best, price looks right to

Did I get it right now or? :)
Ans are there any diffrences on what HDs that fits in what motherboards, or can I use all motherboards and HDs?

((and sorry if I come of naging but I have to make the order
tomorrow or Im gonna have to wait another week for it all :)
))

It's hard to answer your questions since you don't give much information. What motherboard are you getting? It's a simple case of looking at the manufacturer's website to see what IDE interface it has. Probably ATA100 or 133 if it's a new one.

In that any case, buy an ATA100/ATA133 drive anyway. They are cheap.

From http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/

30Gb Maxtor - ATA-133 (7200rpm, 2MB Cache) + ROUND ATA133 IDE Cable 90cm - £42.01 inc vat.

Easy peasy. In fact, I am going to buy one of those RIGHT NOW.
