Hammer or Sword...again

just need some feedback here...

am skald hammerspecc atm

just whant to know is it worth to respellcraft respecc and get foe slayer etc or get a dragonshadow hammer and respecc some?

depends on ur spec:
50/43 for sword and u loose last DD, last dmg add and some resist chants
44/46 for hammer and u have it all

starting from 1.62 conquerer has snare effect as well (23sec), so hammer spec is taste too

ofc sword makes more dmg in avarage.

afaik alb/hib support is neutral/vuln to slash, and resist/resist to crush (except bards who are vuln)

im specced 49hammer 44bs
was doing pretty good whith my old icy greathammer

asked some skalds they say sword 50 for skald in rvr...

but i kinda like hammer.....

If you will run in nicely balanced groups, then you wont use any other chants than speed and the last DD wont be much of a loss.
Suppose assisting with ragnarok works well and does good damage.

If you like to solo, hammer it is.

Also the snare on conquer as mentioned and nice parrystyles that do good damage. (yes, even with 10+17 in hammer, i do parry enough to use them )
And you will run into plenty of assassins which are vulnerable to crush.

so iguess sword it is then? even thou i will need a respecc stone?

With End regen or enough end potion's sword is really nice if u r willing to loose last dd and last dmg chant, but if u want these nothing beat hammer, +hammer really nice for solo'ing thx to extremely low end cost on overall styles

Just wait for 1.62 and use ur singleline respec there, and tbh, if u wanna respec, never think about the 'cost' of the respec, it's easy to farm money, just takes time, but could take forever to get a stone on a dragon raid, and the time used to farm the money is worth it if u improve ur char in a way u like better than it was before ...

The range on the DA seems very low and really limits the utility of this chant.
We are looking into changing this (and other song/chant ranges) to make them more viable in RvR.

Could be worth waiting a little (while you farm cash for a new armour ) to see if we're getting any of this.
I would even lower my hammerspec a little if we get a higher DD.

im not that poor can afford armor and a tg weap..but stand in DF 40000 hrs farming for a respecc stone...i dont play the game to be bored..is it realy that big diff between rakgnarok and conq?

the fun thing is that i had 2 respecc stones taht i gave to 2 guild members due to "gimped" specc

Sword skald = 2 buttons (polar rift + ragnarok) = End burner, average dmg, but looks kewl
Hammer = 3 buttons (provoke + conquer + sledgehammer (or how the follow-up is called)) = lowest damage, lowest end-consumption
Axe = about 5-6 buttons (back chain, front chain, side style, anytime style), highest dmg, average end

I am sword-skald (was drunk when respecced from axe), but I dont regret...

From 1.61 onward:

- Monsters in Caer Sidi, Tuscaran Glacier and Galladoria now have a chance at dropping a single line respec stone. Note that non boss monsters have a significantly different drop rate than named boss monsters. These stones can be turned in to the following NPC's:

Albion: Mae Oswy - Humberton Castle
Midgard: Hjortr - Vasudheim
Hibernia: Ita - Mag Mell

So you'll have more chance of getting a respec stone than just having to be lucky on a dragon raid.

1. running supportclasses
2. tanks chasing your support

Sure, crushdmg is gimped vs albchain but conquer makes up for it IMO.
Also, have a zerk with pf /assist you and we have a ghetto root
