For lunch. Tomorrow. With my ninety four year old aunt. I have spent the last thirty minutes on google and I'm just suffering.

I promised my great aunt I'd take her out for sunday lunch, and she's been looking forward to it for ages. Then everything goes horrid, and I have a week of funeral plans and so on, and so booking this table has been the last thing on my mind.

I am the worst niece in the universe. She's been sat around in her old folks home, being four foot tall with grey hair, and all adorable, just waiting for this lovely meal I promised and I can't find anywhere to go. Does anyone know the area? She's in Crowley Green, in Rickmansworth, WD3, (DON'T STALK MY GREAT AUNT  ) if that helps at all. It can't be too loud, as she's deaf as a post and you have to literally scream in her face while gesturing wildly anyway.

Please help me. I suck.

Nevermind. Found somewhere miles away. I'll just have to hope she falls asleep in the car and doesn't think that I'm trying to abduct her or something.

By the way, anyone out there thinking about setting up a decent website that tells you about country style pubs in your area, that doesn't look like someone ate a bargain basement collection of fonts and then vomited onto an angel fire hosted page, I have to tell you...

Big gap in the market.

Well, I've booked somewhere now. Kenny saw it mentioned on the CAMRA website, so at the very least, we know my great aunt can have a nutritious and hearty ale. I didn't try the AA, but I did try tourist info, googling pub, resturant, gastropub, country pub, sunday lunch, and so on, and all it did was give me brain rage. That'll learn me for leaving it all to the last minute, eh?

So, I'm just about the jump in the shower, and then do my vocal warm up exercises, braced for a few hours worth of SHOUTING in the face of my dear old aunty. She's one of those old dears that insists on phoning people to tell them that she's deaf and can't hear what you're saying.

ME: Hello?

Auntie: Hello? Is that Louise?

Me: OH, HELLO AUNTIE NANCY!

Auntie: Hello? Louise? Is that Louise?

Me: HELLO AUNTIE NANCY! IT'S LOUISE! CAN YOU HEAR ME?

Auntie: It's no good dear, I'm deaf. I can't hear you at all.

Me: ...?

Auntie: ... Hello?

I think Nancy is more suspicious.

Like the old deaf woman who is actually a wolf and eats little red riding hood ( damini ).

ECA and Ch3tan in same vote shocker. It's clearly Kenny, looking for venues on the Canines And Maniacs Recreational Association website.

Rickmansworth is grim :)

You're telling me. It ended up taking me FOUR HOURS to get there, instead of one hr 45 mins, so I missed the table at the place I had booked after all that.

And we ended up at the Harvester.

vote: Harvester

Reason? SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE.

Rickmansworth Harvester is probably the place I least want to go to anywhere on Earth.
