It has been a long wait, but the game is finally here! Half-Life 2 is now unlocked on steam and in the shops rows upon rows of the game are stacked ready for the hordes of gamers to collect. Demand is sure to be high so get out there and grab a copy now before its to late...

The main question on everyones lips... Is the game living up to the hype? Post your views!

Heh, another hl2 thread :)

It deserves lots, no matter how much shitty hype and delaying tactics may have pissed everyone off, the end product is well worth it.

It's that good? Im stuck at work until 5:30pm. Watched the intro this morning as I was getting changed for work, and
ran around the train station bit for about 2 minutes
. Does it really live up to the hype then?

How would you rate it story wise compared to Doom, or - more fair - Farcry?

I just got to ''We dont go to Ravens area anymore'' its got good graphics and such but i dunno im just wondering how big is the game ? HL was a massive game levels went on for ages etc. Graphics aint better then D3 but who cares when it plays as good as it does... FPS dont have a long playability life CS:S not my cup of tea.

It lives up to the hype. Its 3 times the game Doom 3 is.
And I hate single player games, but i like this :D

Fanastic game, the vehicles are really great fun and the set pieces are superb. The only downside it seems is the loading between levels as the levels seem quite short but thats only a minor point.

Booked the day off work and have now played for 7 hours straight on hard

Loved the bit where you play catch with the DOG robot :)

It's another shooter. That is all. It just so happens that it is maybe the most addictive and fun shooter for a long long time.

Deserves it's gamespot score and it's the only game for a couple of years to keep me pinned to my pc all day without a break.

Everything about it is better than Doom3 or Farcry.

Mind you, I did see a zombie covered in flames walking through a dark tunnel, and not lighting up the walls around it. Oh well, can't have everything!

Er, ok - just in from work and my unlocking dialogue box has been sitting at 0% for the past 5 minutes - is this normal?

I cancelled and i'm trying again, however it's still at 0%.

Fuck sake, Steam can be such a cock-ass at times.

I thought I'd have to buy a new PC too, but it's running fine at 1280x1024, all settings bumped up.
