gym contracts

if you breach a contract for say a gym, can you be sued?

in particular im thinking about lending your entry card to a friend. my contract says that at this point they 'may end (my) membership'. can they do anything past this? eg sue for estimated loss of revenue or something equally silly?

Check the t&c, i cant see how they could terminate over something so trivial and then sue you for loss of earnings when ur actions have only cost them a few oneoff entry fees.

T+Cs say nothing; just that they MAY end my membership. theres no mention of involving the law in the entire thing (even when it comes to disrupting other members).

I'd suspect those T&Cs are more than likely in place to protect the company against anyone that wanted to do something a bit grander. Like copying the card and selling it.

Why not enquire about a free trial? Some gyms give free something something for introducing people.

I signed up for 12 months for a @well known national gym type company@. Did 2 months and realised it was gash, cancelled my DD and told them via telephone that I was doing so.

Next month I get a whiny letter about my DD. Told them I had lost both legs in an accident = end of.
