Gurkha's scare the fuck out of me man. Went for an interview at an MoD place near Sandhurst and was accompanied everywhere by a fully armed Gurkha.

Didn't exactly relax me for the interview tbh.

When I was in the army we always thought of Gurkhas as Elite hard fucks, whenever we saw them they never spoke a single word always looked focused and their version of the Bayonet made ours look like toys.

I think they are quite prone to this stuff.

I read a book about the Italian campaign in WW2, and it recounted how a British officer had come accross two or three of his Gurkha soldiers lauging thier heads off after a night patrol.

He asked what was so funny, turns out they had come across three german soldiers asleep in a row in a trench. They had silently entered the trench and decapitated both of the outside Germans, leaving the inside one still asleep.

Bet he had the shock of his life when he woke up :D

theres a lovely comment in Slim's book about burma, during the fighting in the monsoon, one of the regimental historys noted "operations were suspended, reason : water too deep for gurkhas to operate" :D

Its a real shame though that these guys get treated so poorly by the Government once they leave the service, it's actually quite sad that they let any fucking idiot who wants to milk the system in this country in through the doors with open arms.

Yet guys who have served our country in combat are thrown into the gutter.

I know quite a few Gurkha's :)

One of them, someone I'm pretty proud to be able to call a friend, is on the same course I'm on right now - used to be in 1 RGR, if I remember correctly.

Was talking about the Kukri fighting, wondering how close it is to the bayonet stuff we do in basic, some of the things he was telling me were pretty far-out!! :)

Its a fucking disgrace how these men who fight for us aren't given the right to live in this country after they finish thier time in the British Army, particularly when you look at some of the scum we let in these days.

Which is a fair point.
