I've always thought Jacksons were very good, but also very overpriced - same applies to Gibsons. For the cash you'd lay down for a Jackson, you could a get a custom guitar with everything right...

actually the japanese jacksons can be noway considered overpriced. And the usa ones are still cheaper than same spec guitars custom made by a luthier

I've only played the US Jacksons, don't remember ever getting my hands on one of the Jap ones. I probably didn't express it very clearly - what I meant was that if you were going to lay down the kind of cash a US Jackson needs, you might as well say sod it and get a custom one so everything's exactly how you want it - there's always something that's not quite right on off-the-shelf guitars.
