Ok so i've not been on for a while as I've been a bit busy with pookie (my beloved baby) who has decided to come down with pneumonia.
wednesday morning i opened the hutch to let her out in the house for the day and she sounded like a very tiny darth vader, first thought "aw fuck!" this was exactly how sprockett sounded when she died, anyway we got pooks straight to the vets and twas the same vet as before which is a good thing as she nailed the problem and gave us some meds and syringes to (haha) try and give pooks her meds orally with (oh man you should see the face she pulls, like a very unamused chicken) and told us to take all the hay out of her hutch and put dust free shreded paper in instead.
anyhoo it seemed to do the trick but pooks was still really down, thursday and friday are the days when i work all day so i didnt want her to get lonely and stuck the radio in the lounge on classic fm, anyway we get home on thursday (tbh im expecting the worst) and shes singing at me (weetweeeetweeeeetweeet) she never speaks to me any more so this was a real nice surprise! I've been leaving the radio on soft at night and whenever I'm out and it really seems to have perked her up.
She's even started eating a little now too, yesterday she'd only eat a little lettice if i hand fed her and today she's eating a bit on her own.
we were planning to get her a little companion GP in a few weeks but that looked as if it would not be possible with her being ill, but now it looks as if thats on the cards again (wayhay!) so if your GP is looking depressed (tbh thats exactly how she was looking, really pissed off and mopey) try playing some classical music for them (not too loud though).
anyhoo I shall let you know how things turn out, we've got to take her back to the vets for a follow up tomorrow morning, and i suspect we will probably take her just before we go to introduce her to a new freind to make sure she's fit enough.
It's my worst nightmare to open the hutch in the morning and find pookie ill (or worse) so I'm really pleased she's picked up.
