It seems Midgard has given up.

We had a discussion about this in alliance earlier, many people point to the fact that we have no relics and can't organise a successful Relic Raid due to information being leaked.

To those that blame the lack of relics, it was by OUR apathay that we let the relic slip through our fingers.

I put it to all of you that we have lost the will to fight and have become obsessed by the RP tables.

Not so many weeks ago any call on /as that we had a keep under attack would of brought 4-6 fg of defence, now we struggle to make 2.

Ask the albs and hibs to think back 6 weeks or so, how hard was it to get even 1 mid keep? Now you can take them all with nominal resistance if any at all.

Everyone is looking for someone else to take up the position of "leader" in this position, the reason this is failing is not because of leadership (though I am sure the lack of it doesn't help) the problem is in the attitude of the realm players.

The most enjoyment I have had in recent weeks was when the albs took the relic, people actually sat up and though oh shit we need to sort this out, we found out to late but we still tried.

I can imagine the albs tonight "Any Mids on left excal?"

It certainly must seem that way, no they haven't left it's just that there is no "Midgard Realm", just a whole load of people who don't mind how the realm fairs provided they get good RP each day.

I have never understood why ppl want to go to emain, I never will, far more fun can be had in Alb and Mid frontiers but each to their own.

All Midgard needs is a few hours a week of your time to be great again, spend the rest of the time anywhere you like but when your realm is under attack, help.

That might put some pride back into the realm and might help regain some respect from other realms.

Sorry for the long rant but I feel that there is no point playing on Mid/Excal atm as it doesn't offer the experience I enjoy, I will be trying Prydwen for a few days whilst I decide my futurre in this game.

Have to disagree with you Cubby. The ones who want good rps each day are the same as they always are. The amount's fairly similar. I'd hesitantly suggest that Midgard *does* care.

One of the dominant feelings from many guilds is that other guilds in the alliance aren't pulling their weight. This soon degenerates into a "why should we bother if no one else is?" and ends up as it is now.

Again, and I don't mind saying this here, I'm all for going back to a small starting alliance of like minded guilds with the defence of the Midgard frontiers in mind. Rings a bell? We had one briefly. Then a few more guilds joined with slightly different objectives, yet it still hung tenaciously to what it originally stood for. Then more guilds joined, didn't know what they were signing up for and the not-pulling-weigh issue set in.

I realise I offer no solutions - I'm no longer GM (thank fk).

Not sure why this attitude exsists, before I was in an alliance I saw the importance of the Realm Defence as a major part of the game (without it is there much worth playing for past lvl 50?)

It's not for me about alliances its about the people in them and all the alliances in the world will not change this attitude, the people have to want it to change and I don't believe that will exists, prove me wrong Midgard!!!

The trouble with the alliance I was in was that everytime someone mentioned a relic raid they was told to shut it and forget about it. For one reason only they thought that spies from the other two realms where in the alliance, and so it fell.

With the nerfs of my main character I have mainly lost interest in the game as whole ( I play a hunter) and now just play while I wait for a new alternative that comes along.

As it stands with future patches coming along Midgard is going to be the weakest realm in all aspects of combat melee, spellcasting and the archer class. Even the US Midgard members are now strugeling against Albion and Hibernia.


For me the See Hidden realm ability killed my enjoyment from the game.

Don't get me wrong I love Midgard as its one of the best realms going in the game. I just got fed up with the nerfs and stealth nerfs of my character , and with the Bonedancers from SI coming the Hunter class will be obsolete due to the fact a Bone Dance can summon a comander and 3 skeleton archers all at the same time.
Kind of makes me uke: at all the time I put in to trying to make a sniper that as of now can't even kill a blue con mage.

No wonder Midgard holds no relics - with such attitude (more then) present in our realm.

very sad day, there's 3 realms on this server and with midgard in the state it is there's only us tree huggers left to piss the albs off. I was fairly shocked earlier when Mid only had 1 of it's own keeps but I could see 25-30 of them running about emain.

Realm is split imo.

One side is the CE alliance, other side NP and WR.
The problem is there is no person "everyone" respects. Killgorde took control once but NP and CE has an outstanding...
Alot of people are very selfish and that's destroying the realm. Just look at Legion raids...
Find a person everyone respects and you can get something going.

I'd like to think the events of the past 6 hours show that not all life is gone from Midgard. We retook all our keeps, then 40 of us defending Odin's (and fighting off small assaults at Bled/Nott). Another fun night of RvR

I was disgusted on how you were treated by this chap, and I did want to send you a message saying so, but you logged off quickly after the abuse from xxx.

I thought you were very unselfish and kind to spend time helping your mate out. Most people (including me!) would never return to the lair ever again after slogging there for 10 levels, well unless it's to kill the dragon You also helped the group out too, and I would like to say thanks!

As you are level 50 it was obvious to the rest of the group you were not leeching!

Killgorde was (by default) responsible for the leadership of the realm defence/offence and ensuring it was organised. Since he has been absent for the past few weeks or so, the realm has suffered as a result.

In reply to the main post in this thread, it's not all bad news so let's not throw in the towel just yet. As shown today, there is still a large number of people willing to travel the width and breadth of the realm to retrieve back our keeps. And yesterday defending Renaris went well against a much larger force of Albs.

And just a reminder, it wasn't so long ago we were in a similar position having 0 relics and shortly after the implementation of the 1.50 patch, we snatched our relic back in probably the best constructed relic raid in the history of this server.

In order to be more organised, we need to (from a CE alliance POV) ensure /as does not denigrate into a volley of verbal assaults and arguing (as it did today) I had to repeat myself several times to get intel reports over due to them being lost in the translation which is frustrating for me and for those that need to read them.

Any animosity or rivalry between guilds/alliances has to cease. It serves no purpose to the realm and only brings us into disrepute. Let's all work as a team for the sake of the realm.

If anyone like me is utterly bored with Emain which now consists of the Albs camping our mmg in ridiculously large numbers, then take the fight to Albion or come out to defend in Odin's instead.

But for the majority of the day - our frontier was all but empty from any serious attempt to counter the Alb. forces.

I spend most of my day in RvR in Odin's, Jamtland and Uppland - but as a sub 50 SB it is limited what you can do.
And I did see killmsg. from other Midgard players that were out there - but we were to few and to scattered.

I didn't see any major midgard movement untill about 3FG albs (think same guild) showed up at Svasud gates.
At that time, Midgard had 1 keep, Hibernia had 1 and Albion had the rest.
After this - things went fine - we took all keeps back relative fast, some defended - some not.

People complain about Emain being boring RvR - then when something happens in our own lands - people still port to Emain. (Sad to say I saw several people from my own guild in /who emain most of the day - wich I've also complained about on /gu)

Sheez - bad attitude imo.

I just hope that more people "wake up" and start to take an interest in "our part of the game" - otherwise Midgard will proberly loose more players due to this ineffectiveness and lack of organisation.

This move was part of an event that several Albion guilds took part in (not enough, sadly), and our aim was to take all your keeps just to show how it's done. However, we battered ourselves bloody on the final keep, the ultra-hard doors at Arvakr, and then developed a suicidal streak when we went to camp the border keep (bk camping always end in death).

I'd like to say thanks to all the Mids who showed up to valiantly defend their realm, you put some great fights and nearly bested us many a times. Kudos especially to Cubby, who never seems to give up running out into the frontier to get into a keep with his nasty PBAOE. However, I think it is a sad state of affairs when the defense of a realm is mostly carried out by those who are not 50; the siege at Fensalir, which we rudely interrupted halfway through, consisted of a lot of green and blue cons (and even some grey).

Even though our raid was largely successful, it still leaves a bittersweet taste (just as this thread suggests); the realm of Midgard seems no longer interested in defending its own frontier. Without turning this into a flame or anything, I'd like to point to Killgorde and CE's earlier posts in the RvR forum about how Albion never cares about its own frontier. Well, guess what, the tables seem to have turned.

Please take this as wakeup call, we really want your opposition.

Midgards time will come again, just don't lose faith. People are busy complaining how bad everything is. I say that as people are waiting for PvP server there is nothing much to do. Wait until PvP server arrives, stay in Midgard and I promise that something could be done. This game isn't different from others, one side is always winning, but often they don't keep until the end of time, unless everyone in the losing side gives up.

Thoese are imo the worst. They are "in the game" but do nothing.

I think most people know this, i certainly do.

But at the same time, its difficult for some people to put aside their "Your a noob so you must know nothing!" attitude to people that arn't at their lvl.

Thank-god the lvl cap is at 50 or nobody would ever listen to me, then again people might start asking my realm rank...

These same "oldtimers" are the ones leaving for pvp or for the most part treat realm defense as a crap version of counter-strike with 1map...as_emain.
Personally, I believe the future lies with the new faces/guilds in Midgard, the ones who werent able to hit 50 asap but are now coming up through the levels. Perhaps the "oldtimers" when the new Guilds are planning their first raids on keeps/relics will offer some quiet, constructive advice (I won't hold my breath though)

For the last few weeks, only a handful of the same faces have actually shown up for Realm Defence. Aesirs are probably the most notable, seeing as the other "uber" guilds have now sodded off to play PvP or chickened out to play on Prydwen.

Day after day I see a call for help in /as and see little response, I type /who emain and get 60+ level 50s doing the zerg thing. How sad.

Dont you guys get it, if you stopped going to emain, the zerg mentality would stop there too. Instead bring the fight home to Midgard, defend our back yard once again and let them come to us.

Its the same old faces I see over there tho, day after day, zerg after zerg. When this RR happened we were all caught with our pants down, but the worst of it, while we were all shouting "help needed at X", I typed /who emain and still saw 20+ ppl who were not even bothering to port or suicide. These incidentally were also members of the CE alliance, and had full knowledge of wat was happening.

Why cant you just stay away from emain, 99% of you moan about the crap mentality of it anyway, the port right back! Dumb!

As for the relic raid attempt, well we do have a whole load of assholes in this realm who brown nose albions by grassing us up every time we try it. Do we have spies there, probably, but we still dont see the sh1t happening. Spying is the laimest form of play, and to do so just means your crap at this and probably any game.

We also seem to have a problem with people hwo cant tell the time or get prepared for an event like this, or the legion raids. Many a time ive sat waiting for 1+ hours for a few aholes to get their act into gear, prepare rams, make groups or just to get into the right place. If a raid is set for 2100 GMT, leave what your doing at 2030 at the latest, not 5 minutes before, aint too hard to figure out i it.

The old CE alliance had rules, all GMs signed up to them, agreed to them and also agreed to their guidl members sticking to them. It started out good, but too many guilds turned into RP machines or just could not be arsed to maintain any form of cohesion (sp?).

To me if your part of a guild or alliance, you stick by their rules, if the leaders shout jump you shout how high. If someone says "meet at 2100 svasud", do it, dont debate it, dont say "why, when, who, where" or anything, just turn up and see. Trust your GMs and alliance leader to be doing something to benefit you.

One more thing (yes i go ona bit), there are too many guilds in Midgard, cant you lot just play together? We only need 1 alliance, you only need a handfull of guilds, all these guilds with 8 ppl in is just stupid, and makes the realm even more fragmented than it already is. Besides all the advantages of being in a major well established guild......

To try and sum up, stfu, listen to the leaders, get there on time with the right gear, stay away from emain, look after your own back yard and be loyal to Mid / excal.
