Groups?

why do we even have groups? every time i read something (not always, but very often) on these forums someone is whining (i dont want to say whining but cant think of any word that fits better) about groups killing soloers. so why do we even have groups?

I solo when I'm bored....
I can actually kill a solo bard if I sneak up on them!

Although usually I just run into high RR gankgroups and have enough time to start spamming my /taunt macro before I drop. It's actually quite funny to watch.
